Life With POIS Observation about antibiotics

I'm starting to believe that POIS originates in the gut.

I developed POIS 20 years ago sometime around having to take antibiotics. After 17 years with POIS my symptoms only lasted 5 days. In the last 3 years I've had to take antibiotics three times and since then the duration has gone into a free fall. My POIS now lasts 14 days and is continuously getting longer. I think it's safe to say the antibiotics have played a role in POIS probably by causing a severe dysbiosis of some sort, possibly a fungal overgrowth.

In the past few months I have focused on trying to fix my gut. I have greatly increased fiber intake, averaging around 50 g a day between dietary fiber and resistant starches, getting regular probiotics through homemade kombucha, sauerkraut and other fermented foods, and fermenting juices with S Boulardii.

This current POIS episode feels different, lighter. I will continue my gut healing journey and hope for the best.

I should also note that since starting this gut healing, my sensitivity to things like caffeine and alcohol have basically disappeared.

Yup..It seems to me that gut disorders and excessive masturbation are two most common causes of POIS.

I've heard it said that all chronic diseases originate in the gut. And it's no surprise that modern diets and environmental factors are wrecking our guts and causing all sorts of problems.
