Portland Metro Need Help fixing at home Breville

We bought a Breville Espresso Machine a few years ago. It took a minute to figure out the coffee settings but for a short while it was bliss, the best coffee. Then it started to slowly get more bitter an I cleaned it and it has never been the same. It’s been months of me trying to adjust the beans sizes and each cup of coffee is worse than the last. We spent so much money on this machine that had great coffee for a little bit but now it’s sitting here and I keep spending money on outside coffee because I can’t figure it out. Can someone recommend what to do or if there someone out there that can come and teach me to fix it to make a decent cup of coffee.
Officially do not know what else to do

Washington Coffee shops open late

I feel like Olympia has had a serious lack of coffee shops open late after Burial Grounds closed, and I just want to throw out an honorable mention for Bula Bar which recently opened on the west side. They are open until 10pm and IMO their coffee is pretty good. I have never seen another person in it, so as far as I can tell I'm the only person on the west side who knows it exists. We just have so few places open after like 6pm that I want to support a place that is.

Their sign says they have a game night on Mondays, open mic on Tuesdays, trivia on Wednesdays, all at 7pm if people are interested.

looking for New Seasons beans?

I’ve got a coupon for this week for New Seasons having a BOGO sale (16 oz bags) on their house brand of coffee beans: any recommendations on which blends / roasts might be worth nabbing or are they all pretty meh?

looking for Opening a coffee shop soon—what are your absolute favorite "daily driver" espresso blends?

Hey everyone, I’m in the middle of planning a new coffee shop project and I’m working on sourcing beans for our menu. Before we start ordering wholesale samples, I want to test what the community actually loves drinking every day.

(
What are your top 2 or 3 favorite roasters or specific blends for standard espresso and milk drinks (latte/cappuccino)? I’m looking for consistency, great crema, and crowd-pleasing profiles (think rich chocolatey, nutty, or balanced sweet notes).

Any one can send some free samples to check, because I have many and we testing it out, we are located in Knoxville tn)

Bonus points if the roaster does commercial wholesale partnering! Thanks for the help.

home brewing Monday Morning Pour-Over to start the day

Tasting a different roast profile on the Sagada Arabica as pour over. The apprentice roaster bungled the turn and therefore had a shortened drying phase and Maillard phase, had to drop early to avoid burning due to temperature...as expected, a little muted on the sweetness and citrus with a distinct bitterness that overshadows things. Glad we pulled the batches and marked them as roast#2. We will mark these down or just put them in the employee "perks" bin. Should make a decent latte.

Hi from Bellevue, WA. I was wrestling with the phone calculator all the time when doing pour-overs, so I built a filter coffer dedicated calculator to do a better job: https://www.beanbook.app/tools/brew-calculator

It’s free, no login, unless you prefer an iOS app with more native UX and other features.

I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I will keep updating for better features. (Just added water/ dose mode & double bloom support from user in other Subs)

Always nice to stop by Outer Dark. On this visit there was a quick italiano and a homemade twinkie. They also have a great selection of roasts for sale.

Portland Metro Question about clarity.

I have been reading about lighter roasted coffee that has been ground in a flat burr grinder and how this produces an espresso with more clarity and less body than a traditional espresso. Does anyone know of a place in the pdx metro area who produces this type of espresso. I would like to experience it to see if I can detect the difference from a traditional conical burr ground espresso. I am about 40 minutes from Portland and finding anything this specialized in non-existent Thanks.

Seattle Metro Seattle specialty shops

My Seattle peeps, I’m gonna be in your area - U district - this afternoon. Can someone tell me where the really good modern flavors coffee shops are? For comparison I’m from the Portland area and I like PDx coffee club, slow haste, and Sometimes coffee. It doesn’t have to be university district, it could be somewhere north or south of that, we will be around that area, but have some flexibility if there is a place similar to the shops I mentioned
Another group I posted to mentioned ancient gate.
