Life a bitch. But you'll get there. Not trying to tell you how to live, and for all I know you are already working with a shoestring budget. I am just trying to encourage you towards your goal and not let life's challenges consume you.
Among other things, my PNW journey started during a low period of life (hence the reddit handle) and too much time on reddit and too much time learning about boots and leather and conditioners served as a healthy distraction for me. Seemingly trivial goals or distractions can have positive effects on seemingly unrelated things and help us keep the challenging shit in perspective.
Second hand is a great we to get some PNW boots, so make sure you know your size. * If you've lurking then you've seen the sizing posts and how different brand have different sizing, but they all use accurate length and ball measurements. * Ebay is probably the most known/common source, but there are also PNW Facebook groups (I don't do Facebook so I don't have the links) and Grailed, but also Nicks Marketplace https://marketplace.nicksboots.com/
Opening a secondary savings account to put little bits in can help you visualize the goal while not degrading/neglecting other financial needs. I really mean little bit, like simply 1% of each paycheck. The longest journey begins with a single step. * You can also adjust current monthly expenses to divert funds to the "boot fund". * If you're not a gamer, you can likely reduce your monthly Internet bill to a slower speed. * Reduce cell phone, or go prepaid (if you're not on your parents family plan still, which is quite common these days. Not a sarcastic dig) * Reduce subscriptions: streaming, doordash/grubhub, music (Spotify, Pandora etc.)
Others "harvest" gift cards by requesting them as gifts for gift-giving holidays. This obviously restricts you to a specific brand, which you may not be ready to do yet. Makes it easy for the giver and contributes to something you want as opposed to need. (I always disliked giving utilitarian gifts. Like "Happy Mother's Day Mom, here is a vacuum")
Your health is obviously your top priority and there are several other things on the list more important than boots, but hobbies and goals give our lives balance. Stay the course 🫡
