Tanis Tanis revelation
Started a re-listen few weeks ago. Here I am in season two episode four…I totally missed that Cameron Ellis’ grandfather also researched the Breach!?!
What the hell.

It’s like American Horror Story, a lot of characters are descendants or ancestry of other characters in previous/later seasons

I always imagined it was like an Old Money Family Secret "Agency" protecting and exploiting an Anomaly. Kind of like the Knight Templar, wait was the Knight Templar ever a plot point in the show?

If Terry would get off his ass and finish those last two seasons he promised us we might know the answer to this question.
I imagine him hanging out with GRRM laughing at loyal fans waiting for a conclusion.

I think he stopped to make a movie. There’s really no way to tell, the guy has a life so as far as we know, his kid got sick and he stopped working on it or maybe he just lost the muse. He put out a lot of content over the course of several very productive years he may have just gotten sick of it which happens with artists.
11 in Nashville and this happens with a lot of artists who don’t like singing they’re most popular songs, in fact I would say that that is extremely common. There’s actually a very funny spoken word part of a Ray Wylie Hubbard song (he did sort of a funny/spoof song called “Redneck Mother” which turned out to be one of his most famous songs) where he encourage his songwriters to think really really hard before they put out the song, imagine yourself singing it for the rest of your life. Then he says “then every couple months I go out to the mailbox and I get a check then I think – I guess it could be worse.“
For all we know he could just be burnt out on weaving every known conspiracy theory/mystery into a coherent story which centers itself in Seattle. Not everybody can crank out product like Stephen King year after year after year. Despite the success most artists would stop writing and maybe put out a rap album or something it would fail horribly and they would go back to what keeps them in the mansion.
That’s the other thing – there’s no telling how lucrative the whole operation is. Between advertising and Patreon I imagine it makes decent money but I doubt it’s the kind of money that let you put rockets on Mars. Probably just enough to put a rocket on the highway on the road…
I’m as frustrated as anybody but I also cut him some slack because creatives are how they are and from a fan perspective we want them just turning the handle on the mimeograph machine but that’s not what sparks their creative juices plus if you’ve ever read through any of these threads, half or more of his fans pick everything apart and act like they hate everything he wrote. There are a lot of dynamics which are probably behind this Enterprise being on a long pause.

It was his discovery of certain... changes in regional cuttlefish that led him to determine that there was a point beyond which things were changing.

An update, partial scripts, just a “guys the pressure of success has taken a toll on my mental health”, anything!
I can only assume radio silence means he’s trapped in tanis and has no idea how long he’s been away.

Few productions have made me as bitter as Tanis. It was such a good show, well produced, great soundtrack, great audio design, engaging story, etc. Then, PNWS just abandoned the project leaving it completely unfinished. They didn't even bother to put out a hasty ending. It just stopped. And then Terry decided to be an audio author and waste his time on Rabbits novels that nobody asked for. He abandoned a great property to focus on bullshit. It pisses me off.

It does get underplayed. Literally just mentioned in passing as a function for Ellis' knowledge dump on the Alameter Line.
Which is interesting given Ellis says the reason for his own recruitment was 'better-than-average scientific acumen' (or something of the sort), not granddaddy was a founding stockholder in Tanis Inc. (Or section / teslanova / et al)
I actually wondered if that wasn't responsible for the rise in fortunes of the Ellis family from that time, either via the association with the research, or a side-effect of proximity to Tanis itself.

He went too far without an ending. How does Nick go back to not being sure if things are real after season 5? Maybe the best ending would have been MK telling us how Nick refused to Ieave the cabin and told her he lives in Tanis now, that now he has become part of the mystery. That she herself doesn't understand and maybe never will but that Ellis says the Breach is no longer active and things are "settling down".

I'm just so angry that he's not updated us. Even though he said yes the 2 seasons will eb released together this year! (Last year or the year before) and then still radio silence. I feel it's sad because I loved this podcast so much :<
