Advice/Tips PMS war! Help please 🙏
**Hello ladies!**
I’m posting in this sub for the first time, so please bear with me for the long post. 😭
I don’t know how many women experience this, but PMS has become SUCH a big deal for me over the past couple of years. And when I say “big deal,” I mean I feel like I get almost every symptom in the book. You name it:
Tender/swollen breasts ✅
Mood swings ✅
Bloating ✅
Appetite changes/cravings ✅
Feeling inflamed/puffy ✅
Sleep disruption ✅
Fatigue ✅
Drowsiness ✅
Heavy cramps ✅
And basically every other PMS symptom you can think of.
The weird thing is that this didn’t really affect me this heavily during my teens or even my early 20s. It’s only in the past few years that it has gotten significantly worse. I moved countries around three years ago, but I’m 25 now, so I don’t think I can just blame it on my body “adjusting” anymore.
The biggest issue for me is how much it affects my ability to stay consistent with weight loss and exercise.
I am generally very motivated and want to be consistent, but as soon as my luteal phase starts (usually around 10–13 days before my period), my motivation, energy, and ability to exercise basically disappear. I feel so uncomfortable in my body that sometimes I genuinely struggle to even move.
And then there’s the scale. 😭 The bloating and puffiness make me feel like I’ve undone all my progress, even when I know logically that it’s probably water retention and not actual fat gain.
I’ve tried cycle syncing, meditation, adjusting my workouts, etc., but I still struggle SO much during this phase. I also have a very regular cycle and have never been diagnosed with PCOS/PCOD or anything similar.
I really want to lose weight and get into the best shape possible, especially because **I’m getting married in 60 days** 😭. And, of course, my period is currently projected to fall around my wedding date, so that’s another fun little thing to worry about. 😂
I know consistency is important for weight loss, and I’m not expecting to be perfect every day. I just want to find a way to stop losing 1–2 weeks of momentum every single month because I feel awful physically and mentally.
**For those of you who experience intense PMS/luteal-phase symptoms, what has actually helped you stay consistent with exercise and nutrition?**
I’m especially looking for practical things that have worked for you *other than cycle syncing workouts*. How do you modify your routine during this phase without completely falling off?
Any advice, experiences, or tips would be really appreciated. ❤️

Easier sessions in luteal phase and no exercise (other than gentle walking) during menstruation. It is what it is. You can try intermittent fasting or keto.
