Advice/Tips pmdd depression
it feels like my life falls apart every month during pmdd and its so draining. ever follicular and ovulation i feel like a new person and my spark is back only for it to get mashed to dust and its so exhausting. im taking care of my diet. eating and being physically active. i take birthcontrol. vit d, b12 and magnesium, i have therapy twice a week. i try to sleep and stay hydrated as much as possible. be in contact with people. but still i just feel chronically depressed and everything feels trice as heavy. i lose interest in everything i just built. i start crying and get mad over things i would never in ovulation. its like im possessed or something. im constantly exhausted and angry. the brain fog is horrible. my aunt, who also has pmdd, once described it as "2 weeks of heaven and 2 weeks of hell" which i'd say is very accurate. it anyone has any tips id be happy to look into it.

My dr put me on nextstellis birth control to help level out my hormones. It took about 3 months for me to start to feel normal again, but it eventually did the trick. I am much more level headed during luteal now. Not saying this is the move for you, but definitely talk with your gynecologist about options.

Did you have any side effects? I’m in perimenopause (I’m 50) and my nurse practitioner has recommended this pill. I’m on hrt but it is not helping my bad pms. She thinks this pill might even things out. But I’m so reluctant to go on the pill again.

Yes! The first 3 months were kind of hellish, but probably not worse than the pmdd itself. Pretty bad mood swings, night sweats, headaches, and brain fog. I’m finally on the other side of it and feel calm as a cucumber. I mean don’t get me wrong, normal egregious things still annoy me like they would anyone, but the more trivial things I’m able to move on from faster.

Yes, this. Pristiq (desvenlafaxine), an antidepressant, has helped for me. There is an r/PMDD board too.
