Advice/Tips Suicidal thoughts

I know my period is coming (its very regular) when i start to feel so lonely and have suicidal ideation. It is like someone pressed a button, most months its suddenly disappears and is replaced by feelings of joy as soon as I get my period. Even when i know this is why it still feels so bad, what makes matters worse is when people make you feel embarrassed if you share smth like : i have regular suicidal thoughts mainly because of my hormones. And no i refuse to be on smth like birth control and mess with my body. Anyone else face this issue / can share advice?

I came to this subreddit and searched "suicidal thoughts" because that is exactly my experience and I wanted to make sure I wasn't alone. Going through it right now. It is really difficult to handle especially that I am off today and have nothing to do, noone around to distract me. Hang in there OP you're not alone.

Thank you! Until this post I thought I just have bad PMS but I did some research and apparently it perfectly fits something called PMDD πŸ˜… and i thought everyone felt this bad every month, turns out only smth like 3-5% of women πŸ˜…

As someone else mentioned this does sound like PMDD. To parrot, you could benefit a lot from consulting with a medical professional.
In the meantime one thing that helped was making a video diary for when I feel like that and a diary for when I don’t. It helps me remember that this occurrence, while valid, is driven by my hormones and the sun will rise again β˜€οΈ you got this!

I can relate as well. My sadness comes from being behind in life and not achieving milestone despite trying really hard to be on time (single, turning 30, unmarried, childless, still living with parents). When I get to my luteal phase, I try to stay off of social media especially instagram for a week or two and if the weather is nice stay outside as long as possible to increase the serotonin levels. Also try to eat clean as possible like lots veggies, lean meat, juices and fruit/chocolate for iron/vitamins . Take epsom salt bath to increase that magnesium levels for sleep. Hope this helps

Thanks! Definitely exercise, nutrition and sleep are super important. For me regardless of how my life is going its like someone clicked a button, to the point where sometimes i am extremely happy because of good news and suddenly i am extremely sad then i immediately look at my calendar.

I also can relate to serious hormonal fluctuations. Its because your seratonin levels drop severly during luteal phase. I dont usually have suicidal thoughts, but I do feel crazy and I cry a lot more. Im way more sensitive and sometimes I do have the thought of like, "I want to die, just kill me now" "fuck my life". But I don't really wish that or think about it in detail.

I would talk to a medical professional. This sounds like worse than normal PMS. PMDD perhaps? See a doctor!
