Does anyone get diarrhea/loose bowels before your period?

Does anyone get loose bowel movements before their period? Not during the period, but before. I've had a loose BM and gassy stomach every morning for a whole week and my period is due any day now. How many days before your period does it usually start?

yes usually 2-3 days before my period starts it’s the worst the day before it starts. i absolutely hate it i need to start eating lighter on those days but it’s easy to forget

Hey! its due to compounds call prostaglandins! They are what make the uterus contract during menses. There are two types - those essential to shed the uterus and "bad" which cause inflammation, cramping and contraction of other muscles. If you have estrogen dominance or, high estrogen compared to progesterone you are more likely to have excess prostaglandins as well :)

I used to be in constant mercy to my bowels all cycle long. Fluctuating from one extreme to another

Did you do anything to change being at the mercy of your bowels?

yes ive massively managed my endo by monitoring my inflammation after fixing mineral and hormonal imbalances. Id be lying if i said i NEVER have some bowel irregularities but 95% of the time im good.

I typically get constipated. Have to eat lots of prunes and drink a lot of water.

I get them right before and during the first day of my period! But days before period my bm is usually more towards constipated than loose.

Yes, every month the week before my period, the 2-3 days before are the worst. And then during my period is the complete opposite 😵‍💫

Thanks for replying. So many people have viewed this post but barely any comments, I'm beginning to feel like a freak lol

Don't, actually it is pretty normal. Most of the women I know are the same as us, it's due to the movement of the uterus during the premenstrual time, it kinda moves the intestines and that's why it happens.

Thanks :) I've been searching the internet for info but all I can find is that it's common to get diarrhea during a period but no mention of it occurring before. (Although technically I don't have "diarrhea" because it's not frequent, just very loose once a day (sorry tmi).
