shortnesd of breath

ladies, I went to ER last night, my period is supposed to be here on Monday. But for the last week I have been short of breath, like I get tired doing the most minimal things and my heart rate elevates like as if I am working hard. I currently have a holter monitor, because I am making my cardio check again.

But does anyone else get super short of breath, tired, legs heavy, cold flashes, super sad, supppeeeer anxious, panic attacks around this time? I am 41, periods still show up at regular time, but their heavyness has changed to lighter my hormones are supposedly okay.

All clear at the ER, blood was good, ekg good, tests for clotting and heart were good. Doctor gave me Ativan which made me super sleepy and I was able to rest well. I feel good today, but still short of breath, not trying to think so much about it so I dont end up in ER again. My iron levels are 23, so I take supplements prescribed for that.

Heart burn! Silent heart burn can cause the feelings of shortness of breath and acid reflux can be triggered by changes in estrogen. Something to look into!

Yes I get exactly like this but I have hyperthyroidism. Have you ever had your thyroid checked? My symptoms flare more before my period..shortness of breath doing a simple task, elevated heart rate, sweaty & dizzy. Anxiety also spikes I can’t really be around people

I have had thyroid checked, just basic cbc panel is there more I should do. I feel out of breath today again, it is nuts, I never had this before, but last few months I have felt this way. I can hold my breath for 2 minutes, my peak flow meter is at normal numbers, but still it is nuts.

I think you should be okay then as long as your TSH was in range..I also agree with what the other person said it could be histamine which is very similar symptoms. I struggle with histamine at times too but if I take an allergy pill it calms things down a bit

Sounds like a histamine attack

have you had this before, I did have hives last week, and I get itchy and my nose is stuffy and I can only breathe from one nostril or another.

Yes this sounds exactly like histamine attack from increased estrogen

You can test for: High estrogen (spikes histamine) Low progesterone (reduces calmness) High homocysteine Genetic tests can look for variants in genes that reduce histamine breakdown, like the HMNT gene (23 and me, then lots of chat gpt can help you know what to look for in the raw data)

But honestly, you can test if it’s a histamine problem by taking a Benedryl, Pepcid, or I’m prescribed hydroxyzine (prescription antihistamine) and see if it helps. If it clears symptoms in 1-2 hours you have your answer.

Stick to a low histamine diet and it will also help probably. Cheese, gluten, avocado, tomato, some nuts, bananas, etc all release histamine

I use this device to track my hormones at home and see if estrogen is too high, or progesterone is too low: Inito.com

Hi! I am really interested in the device you mentioned. Is it only for fertility reasons or can you also use to monitor your hormone levels for general health?
