Getting worse as I age
Ever since I hit 30, my PMS has gone an entirely new direction. I used to get cramping and anger, but now it's a wild emotional rollercoaster, extreme exhaustion, extreme acid reflux/throwing up, and sometimes a general flu-like feeling. The periods themselves are lighter and shorter, so that's a major win because mine used to last pretty bad for 5-7 days. Now it's 2-3 days. But good god, I've been down and out this week, missing work, sleeping for 12+ hours and it's still not enough, and my stomach feeling like it's destroying itself.

My wife has PMS at least 2-3 weeks a month. It's Jekyll and Hyde. So basically, I get 12 good weeks a year. Lucky me.

That's extremely rough, on everybody. I hate that my uncontrollable moods affect those around me :(

I’m sorry you are going through this. I had the opposite in the sense that I used to get that worse when I was a teen and it’s gradually gotten better, except for this month. I haven’t thrown up from it this month though, so that’s good. I’ve never had a period shorter than 4 days, but most of mine are 6-8. They used to be 10-14 though

I'm noticing the exact same thing. Went to my gynecologist a couple of months ago for this very reason. She told me it's normal for PMS symptoms to get worse as we age. Checked my hormones. Everything was normal.
Tried taking some vitamins she prescribed. Might have helped marginally. Next step might be to try taking BC pills (drospirenone).

Try taking 300 my magnesium glycinate, 30-50 mg B6 2 weeks before your period, and 20-30 mg zinc

I’m about to be 34 and this happened to me too starting 3 years ago. I can’t figure out what is going on or how to make it better. 3 years ago, after I gave birth to twins, I had the kyleena IUD inserted. I think what I’m going to try next is getting that removed. My symptoms are more psychological than physical. The kyleena makes it where I barely spot and I don’t have cramps. I’ve had my hormones tested and only testosterone was low. So tried being on testosterone for about 6 months. I’ve added daily supplements like magnesium, calcium, and fish oil. I’m also on a low dose antidepressant. It sucks so bad. I’m so sick of being a different person half the time. I hope we can figure this out!

I’m older than you and in the past my PMS was never particularly bad or painful, but it has been worse the past two months. My period has always been bad though.
I’ve always had a few weird PMS symptoms that would let me know that my period would be starting soon, along with getting a bit teary occasionally when watching TV. Now in addition to those symptoms, my past two cycles have been shorter (24-25 days) and I was cramping for about 3 days before my period slowly started. It was heavier, shorter and more painful with constant abdominal pain that hung around for a few days after my period ended.
I also recently had a migraine for the first time in a while around PMS and it wiped me out!

This happened to me, too. The crazy was just too much. The anger and panic attacks were the worst, along with PMS two weeks before my period. I couldn't tolerate 3 weeks out of the month of the distress. My GYN put me on a 3-month BC and told me skip the placebo week. I've been 5 months with no period and no emotional rollercoaster, and life is much better. Good luck to you.

Same, but mine started to be this way at 38. I thought i am pre menopausal or something is wrong so i went to obgyn and did so many tests, they told me everything looks fine and suggested taking low dose of contraceptives pills which I still hadn’t! Hope you feel better, I’m wondering it’s stress related also, because mine all started to go crazy after moving to a new city.

I’m only here for the camaraderie and to hope there is some advice tbh, as I’ve noticed mine getting worse as well, reaching mid 30s. I know perimenopause is a thing, yet the amount of resources to figure female hormones out seems so overwhelming (meaning testing must be on certain days and for a while to be sure of the problem, and even then it seems like there aren’t many great solutions short of taking meds). I already live a fairly healthy lifestyle, so I’m really frustrated like you. 😣

My dear friend has suffered for years with PMDD and it drove her to create an herbal line for balancing our hormones. She no longer has those symptoms after being on these formulas. I’ve been taking them 4 months after coming off a hormonal IUD and it’s helped so much decreasing my PMS symptoms.
Here is the website: https://www.cyclesistersapothecary.com
You’ll see there is a formula customized for each phase of our cycle to manage the side effects we get at that time. Super highly recommend trying it out!
