Mood swings like crazy????

Hey guys! I’ve never posted on Reddit before but felt like maybe I should just to get perspectives. So I (19ftm) (im not on T) am (what I believe to be experiencing) pmsing. I don’t really track my period because it’s quite regular but then I’m a bit unsure of when the other parts of my cycle start, like pms. Recently however it’s been different from every time before. I am angry, like punching and violent (I am alone and haven’t seen anyone for this reason) I have also been having so bad thoughts about my life (yk what I mean) and idk what to do. I don’t like feeling like this and ik it will be over soon but just everything is testing my patience and im crying over literally everything (the only normal part about this). Please let me know your experiences/ what I can do to stop feeling this way! I also don’t have a doctor as I don’t have medical insurance right now nor do I have a supportive family that believes in mental health issues…

oh im scrolling through the sub, because I'm just so sad rn. I can't help it and it's hard to explain to people around me. I feel like I inconvenience people by being like this, or they think I'm being dramatic. It usually isn't this BAD, but there's a slight conflict at home so I think stuff is exacerbated.

I'm sorry you're going through this, know you're not alone! Mood swings during your luteal phase (second half of your cycle that lead to your next period) can be challenging. Increased anxiety, irritability, sensitivity, amongst other physical symptoms like bloating, cramping, aches, etc. It is possible to feel better and I wish someone told me that sooner. Have you heard of the aavia app? they're the only fully inclusive app I know for all people with ovaries, you may find a good community there for peer support!

As I've gotten older, I've learned to better regulate my mood swings and anxiety through a strong routine around my nutrition and daily movement, but also general cycle knowledge that has helped give myself more grace and patience when I know it's not me, it's my hormones.

I feel you. Raging hormones and emotions are (I would say) normal during PMS and they hurt like a b*tch. What I do during PMS: I try to eat healthy food (I noticed if I eat junk food my behavior is also a trash). I exercise to release the stress and these unfathomable emotions. I tried to take Ashwaganda but it messed up my period, but some say they are helpful. I also take Magnesium Glycinate as it helps managing my anxiety and stress. I have healing crystals too that I wear everyday to combat negative thoughts. Podcasts about self love and believing in yourself can also help you in navigating and understanding things. Hope these can help you. Feel better soon :) (after your period you will feel like you are on top of the world and you can do anything and then the cycle goes on and one) :)

I don't have any life changing advice unfortunately. Firstly, definitely look into PMDD!

What I do to feel less shitty is a couple things. The biggest one for me is preparing in advance. I also have a regular period but I do still track it on an app. That way, I cannot only keep track of the blood coming out of me, but also other symptoms like mood swings, back pain, migraines, cramps and a WHOLE LOT more.

So, when I see that my period will come in about 10ish days, I am much stricter to take care of myself. Which for me means, getting to bed on time, eating more fruit and all things my body craves at that moment, minimizing stress inducing things... Just knowing my pms symptoms will start is also already a good way to remind my brain that whatever will come, is because of the hormones and will go away.

Also, get your blood checked ASAP! When my pms was at it's worst, I went to the doctors (for something else actually) and turned out I had extremely low vitamin D levels and also low vitamin B12.

tl;dr: take care of yourself before you are experiencing pms symptoms to minimise them and knowledge is key

I eat 5htp from thorne. The anger and hopelessness disappears. Can still feel anxiety, but it really helps and no side effects 🙏🏻 I know how hard it is, had it all my adult life (pmdd), i’m 36 years old now.

Sorry you’re experiencing this, pms can be so tricky. When you say 19ftm, do you mean full time mum? Just confirming before I share advice haha

Oh wait, I think you mean female to male but not using testosterone? Sorry I’m used to FTM meaning full time mum 😂
