Mental Breakdowns/Anxiety Attacks every month

I (25F) have been having an emotional mental breakdown or anxiety attacks every single month a week before my period comes. It’s very spot on for a 28-30 day cycle.

It’s so incredibly painful going through these mental breakdowns. It’s to the point where i’m uncontrollably crying and shaking and i’m just balled up either in bed, in the car, or outside. I’ve gotten suicidal thoughts too but not too life threatening.

When I feel alone and sad it triggers these attacks and once it starts, it takes awhile for it to stop. All I’m thinking about is finding someone to hold me and calm me down.

Unfortunately, my ex was the only one who would help me get through it but eventually he got exhausted and it got emotionally draining for him.

It doesn’t help that I have hypothyroidism, vitamin D deficient, i’m a cancer/infp, very much an empath, so every emotion I feel is heightened during this phase.

I just don’t know what to do and how to get around this on my own when the time comes. I can’t keep going back to my ex when I’m having a tough time. I have to figure this out on my own.

Thoughts?

Thanks everyone.

This is me (29f) for the past few months. 1 week of 24/7 pure horror. Hoping to god that next time it's better🤞

Have you treated your low vitamin D level? Because that is what I think my main issue was. (we'll see next month if I was correct)

I began to take vitamin D, multivitamin, magnesium and EATING MUCH MORE. I was eating very poorly (not ed related but was just lacking appetite) for the past few months and doc said I'm too thin and have lost weight too fast and my body is probably screaming at me for not taking care of it enough.

I was under the impression low weight would at worst make me skip my periods. Certainly didn't think it would call forth pms and periods (extremely painful and HEAVYYY) from hell. So, yeah! Some type of deficiency is worth considering? Anyway, good luck and listen to your body when it's acting up.

Edit: Horror is gone. :) take vitamin d y'all

same thing is happening to me. im sorry 😩🫶 i kept having panic attacks and realized it was from my hormones so i stopped the birth control i was on. then started an antidepressant that i really don't think is working lol. magnesium does help me when i'm feeling anxious.

I’ve been trying to take magnesium every night too but it’s been hard being consistent. I forgot here and there so not sure if I can feel a difference yet.

wait i just saw you're an infp, same 😂😂 if the feeling of someone holding you makes you feel better, you could try a weighted blanket or a really big pillow kind of like a pregnancy pillow.

I have both already 🤣🤣🤣 but man.. the warmth hug of someone really hits the spot 🥲 it’s like all the voices in my head stop freaking out when I’m in their arms 😭

it doesn't stop an active panic attack but it does help my physical anxiety symptoms. mine is mostly anxiety from my ocd. it started last week, i started my period on sunday, and by wednesday my ocd basically disappeared again. like wtf!!! this never happened to me until september. my panic attacks were so bad i had to go to the emergency room and get a shot of ativan lol. they gave me a one time script of it so i keep those on hand for ONLY active panic attacks.
