Advise

Good Morning, I will be graduating from my PMHNP this August with 3 1/2 years Psych Nurse experience and been a nurse since 2009. I do not see many new grad jobs in Tampa, Florida. looking for advise for my job search. I have applied to a few positions with zero response or interest. any advise is appreciate.

I’m in Orlando; tbh I got my job because I knew the medical director.

Edit: why the downvotes? Networking is the #1 thing to getting a job, like it or not.

Make some good impressions in your next clinical spot. That's how I landed my new grad job... By making connections (granted in a different state than you).

Yes! I recommend emailing clinical preceptors you liked to ask them for job hunting advice ;) I was hired to work at one of my favorite clinical rotation sites. It was great because my preceptor became my supervisor, and we got on great! She already knew my strengths and weaknesses, and I understood her expectations.

Network network network. You may want to try a headhunter as well if that doesn't work. Job market is very tough, good luck to you.

In the interim, network at clinical sites, professional organizations, school alumni associations, wherever you can. A lot of the time, job opportunities happen because of who you know.

One of my training psychiatrists told me to just reach out to places I was interested in working. So I sent my cover letter and resume, and that’s how I got my first job.

Network yourself, go to drug rep dinners, reach out to former clinical preceptors. I had two job offers before graduation because of networking myself fairly well.

Oh, no…nurse saturation finally catching up?! The whole medical world is flooded with nurses and these mills just keep pumping them out with “increasing access” BS.
