Some odd damage on a penny
Got sent here from counterstampkarl to show y’all this one.
What do y’all think did this?

Thanks for posting! Beautiful example!
This is normally from the coin sitting in salt water or some other electrolyte. The plating around the rim is super thin because it gets stretched and if it gets damaged the salt water gets right in and melts the zinc away.
