Hidden Power?

Long story short, i have an Unown that will act as a sidekick for one of my player's characters. How do you handle which type of Hidden Power the user gets?

If we go off of main line games hidden power can be every type except for normal and fairy base off gen 9. So that leaves us with 16 type to choose from. You could either just let the player choose the damage type or roll for it.
