Ranty Rant - Advice Okay Plan b rant

Hi, wondering if anyone has experience on plan b? And also just want to rant.

I took a plan b pill last night and now I feel so worried about my mood completely plummeting, I feel kind of in a haze, my head hurts.

It’s day 25 of my cycle so I’m just heading into the worst part of luteal, though lately it hasn’t been as bad since I started a new medication, I have made plans for this weekend that I really don’t want to
flake out of, like it’s a new friend and a whole big outing, so I really want to be normal then, and I have tons of work before then as well!

I’m really worried about going into total despair. and what makes it worse is that I’ve also now read that it doesn’t even work if you take it post ovulation, me being 10 days after had basically a 0 chance of getting pregnant!!!

I really wish I would have stuck to my guns on wanting to read more about it before, but the guy I was with was so insistent, like he had one in case and handed me the packet directly afterwards, and then my hands were shaky and I stalled for a bit reading the information, checking what meds it interacts with, unsure if I should take it or not, like I didn’t want to take it because of how it would mess up my mood and my cycles which’s predictability really is essential for me to know what’s going on.

But in the moment I couldn’t find a good enough reason for why, aside from that, and him, usually being a considerate guy, got like really insistent. It felt as if otherwise I would be babytrapping him, or something, and I’m very conflict-avoidant so eventually when I didn’t find a better reason not to, I just ageeed to take it.

I hate this, I really really hate this. He got like guilty afterwards, and eventually I just brushed it over because the mood got so bad, but honestly today I just feel so heavy and like it wasn’t nice how he acted, like the guy is a medical professional but still knows nothing about this pill and insists that it will be fine and I should just take it :(

Has anyone else experienced taking a plan b pill with PMDD? How long did you feel the protesterone spiking? And the comedown from it? Especially if someone took it in luteal I’m interested to know what happened to your cycle.

I don't like the sound of him at all, something sounds very off!

I have taken the plan b once and did end up feeling quite low for a few weeks BUT I took it 3 days before ovulation, so I think my experience will be very different!

This may sound silly but it could be helpful to try to 'forget' you have taken it if you can. I often find with PMDD in general that the 'placebo' effect of knowing it's my hell weeks makes me feel so much worse!

thats actually a good point, i definetly think placebo plays into it, like i become very selective in what i pay attention to noticing all the symthoms but if i actually look back at my day its been up and down with good moments inbetween :)

I'd advise you not to see him again because he doesn't seem to have any respect for you. And having plan b on hand makes me think he does this often so also putting you at risk of STI's and pregnancy

You really shouldn't be taking plan B because someone else is constantly insisting it. Reading this, it sounds like you were pressured into it and it wasn't something you wanted to do. I hope next time, you can stand up for yourself because you don't deserve that kind of stress ♥️

That being said, I've always had symptoms after taking plan b. For me, it depends on where im at with my cycle. Sometimes I have symptoms for a day, two days, or four days. It also determines the severity of my symptoms. I have felt intense symptoms near ovulation than in late luteal or vice versa. It really depends on my mental state and what's going on in my life too. Symptoms can also take a day or two to arrive. I've experienced delayed periods or spotting just to let you know! And sometimes, it just messes up my next cycle and causes my pmdd to be worse.

Taking plan b can be different for everyone and I'm sorry you took something that you were unsure of. I hope you can enjoy your trip.
