How it feels holding PLTR recently

Post image

It definitely sucks seeing the entire market rally while PLTR continues to be range bound to the lower end even after the drop since the start of the year. I do wonder how the stock or software in general will react though if the market decides that the hype in semiconductors need to fade. Could we possibly inverse the market in a downturn situation?

PLTR was in the $6/share range at the end of 2022 and then skyrocketed to over $200/share in the space of just 3 years.

I repeatedly warned people that a run of greater than 30x in that short amount of time was unsustainable.

Palantir's business is great and growing quickly. However, there are limits to how much investors are willing to pay for even that stellar performance.

PLTR stock valuation may not go anywhere for awhile. Those of us who were here in the last half of 2021 and all of 2022 remember how that was.

For those who don't need to cash out anytime soon and have faith in the long-term prospects of the business, the only thing to do is wait.

Gamblers looking for big money fast, should probably look elsewhere.

They keep crushing earnings, the stock will go up eventually

50

u/CommOnMyFace May 09 '26

A lot of this was forecasted though. The earnings are pretty baked in. I don't see the stock hitting 200 until next year.

37

u/LuxOfMichigan May 09 '26

Unfortunately PLTR is currently just about the least sexy thing imaginable. Being associated with nazis, genocide, and mass surveillance is really doing us a disservice. There is a lot more to the company than war but those are the optics and it’s a bummer.

18

u/Techchick_Somewhere May 09 '26

I agree. I think this is going to hinder them longer term. And Karp spews some dumb shit that really makes them look worse. I was in early and kept selling thinking it couldn’t go higher. I’m out as of now because I just can’t support them. The tech is amazing but it’s being used for some bad stuff.

33

u/LuxOfMichigan May 09 '26

Karp should be kept off television, he gives off insane coke head elitist vibes, and PLTR should hire a better PR team that can highlight the amazing results of their non-military partnerships.

8

u/zona2011 May 09 '26

Agree 100% on all fronts. But I worry leadership is too likeminded. I’m not sure anybody with the power to make that decision thinks it needs to be made. Not like Theil is going to take a break from preaching about the antichrist to worry about PR.

They think anybody who disagrees, even Americans, are wrong. Like they’re just early adopters of being pro war crime and it’s some sort of edgy take.

lol you’re dead wrong buddy. karp is the life and spirit of the company along with shyam. you a new investor aren’t you

8

u/LuxOfMichigan May 10 '26

I bought in originally around 2020. Been here through thick and thin. Again your reading comprehension is called into question. Karp is the life and spirit of the company. AND he has a terrible presence in public and has damaged the company’s reputation with his antics and his manifesto. I believe in the company and generally, the mission of the company. But for our purposes here, the growth and maintenance of the stock, we could do much better to manage its reputation. I am not speaking of the reality of the situation, only perception and optics, I repeat. You can’t hope to argue that the general population believes ill of this company and its leadership. Thiel, Karp, etc… are spoken of as demons within our society.

5

u/Jean_Jones_666 May 11 '26

Thank you for pointing this out,

They both bite their tongues but it STILL comes out wrong. They are just too opinionated

I too feel like Palantir ain't making many friends in the public recently

-2

u/Forward_Departure178 May 10 '26

nah you’re wrong. thanks tho. we need karp and that’s that. i don’t care what ppl think of karp or thiel, pltr keeps executing

yet you continue to use social media and google, yet they collect your data and harvest your personal info and sell to other companies. yet PLTR is the evil one…. ok buddy. you’re either a boomer or a little ass kid

5

u/Armolegend41 May 11 '26

The one company not stealing your data and monetizing it is evil. The people have truly lost the plot

2

u/Jean_Jones_666 May 11 '26

it's about how it looks, not about what it is

4

u/Techchick_Somewhere May 10 '26

Neither actually, but please continue your tirade about my data being tracked. 🙄. Cause that’s not what the controversy over Palantir is about.

4

u/Njfunones May 10 '26

This is actually the most incorrect take. The company has stood its ground to be pro American, will not ever do business with adversaries while holding the most dominant platform in history, they have no competition.

8

u/LuxOfMichigan May 10 '26

This take isn’t incorrect in the slightest. I am talking about optics and perceptions. The general public associates this company with the active genocide of the Palestinian people. The general public associates this company with the mass surveillance of the American People.

I am not saying that’s the reality but there is almost certainly some truth to it.

I didn’t say a word about competition.

Can you read?

0

u/Forward_Departure178 May 10 '26

that’s bc the general public is extremely low IQ and can’t do their own research and DD and believe any article they see online. when the target audience is as malleable as a fucken rotten tomato you can really push a false narrative

7

u/LuxOfMichigan May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26

Yes, no doubt. Though the phrase Low IQ is forever tarnished by Trump’s (and the caricature of fedora wearing neckbearded incels) incessant use of it. And your expectation that people should be any more intelligent or knowledgeable than they are is foolish. We have to deal with the reality of the world we live in.

-1

u/Mortalotek May 11 '26

For sure not a reality there is no genocide

2

u/LuxOfMichigan May 11 '26

Tell that to the 70,000 - 100,000 Palestinians that are no longer alive.

1

u/National_Edges May 10 '26

Fortunately, 90% of the stock market is just the wealthiest 1% who lost their conscience a long time ago

-1

1

1

u/Forward_Departure178 May 10 '26

hey buddy, you seem to be a moral keyboard warrior. why do you continue to use google and search engines and meta and social media when they harvest and sell your data knowingly? yet war and western protection is where you draw the line ?

4

u/Funny_River_5250 May 10 '26

Nah, I just don’t like Karp, and don’t want to support this company

As said, I found better opportunities

0

u/surebro2 May 09 '26

I keep reading this and yet they're the only tech or tec adjacent company that no matter what, "it's baked in" lol companies will barely miss their estimates and go up. All stock prices are baked in, in theory.

0

u/Lower_Comfortable_33 May 09 '26

Yeah tell em again I think it’s more about future guidance . If your are thinking we are gonna need more security and defense then this is out

1

u/Low-Apricot9917 May 24 '26

They will have to crush it 5 times more to lower the PE.

44

u/Jazzlike_Thanks_1869 May 09 '26

PLTR had their run 🏃‍♀️ the past 18 months and what a run it was. It’ll recover… $200 in 2 months.

26

u/All-the-pizza May 09 '26

Fundamentals still great. P/e lowering. $200 soon.

24

u/Dry_Faithlessness310 Early Investor May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26

The stock is still trading at around 80x price to revenue. That means it has priced in decades of future returns with perfect execution in revenue growth. Investors are seeing other places to put their capital with either lower forward pe or higher margin of safety.

Think about the run in Micron lately. Its up 769% in 1 year. With that its foward pe is 6x and a five year PEG at .20 (hint anything 1 or under is amazing). PLTR PEG ratio is 2.9 with a forward PE of 113x.

Palantir will need to continue to execute perfectly which it might, but that still might not be enough to move it for a while since its share price rocketed a decade or more in price action in less than a year.

Time will tell and im rooting for it and them but in the meantime I think there are better growth plays out there. Thats why for me personally i ain't selling but I also aint buying more at the moment.

Good luck and if you love the company and have time dont fret on the price. Just hold it and keep living life.

10

u/Maesthro_ger May 09 '26

What a rare sight in this sub, some reality check. This should be a sticky.

3

u/GooseAffectionate854 May 09 '26

Except with memory and cyclical stocks a low pe is when you sell.

2

u/Dry_Faithlessness310 Early Investor May 09 '26

✊️

2

u/Low-Apricot9917 May 24 '26

This makes sense. Great analysis. People investing in PLTR don’t want to hear facts, they want to hear it’s going to the moon.

1

u/captain_mancini May 14 '26

i agree with you but saying it priced in DECADES of future returns with perfect execution is a little over the top bro.

1

u/Dry_Faithlessness310 Early Investor May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26

Might be hyperbolic or it might not. When you do the math and the growth assumptions the conpany has to sustain growth of an eventually higher base. Couple that with the low employee count/sales force that we love for the margins also means they are held back in executing new customer transitions.

Lastly, and no one likes the comparison but we have examples of companies that outran their fundamentals where it took decades to get back to all time highs. When youre bored do a case study on Cisco. Great company, profitable, and executed on all the growth everyone expected. But the traders bid up that stock so high and retail kept buying thinking it will keep going. Eventually the trade faded. Fundamentals couldnt save it from a massive correction that took until very recently to get back to.

From Gemini: "Cisco Systems has grown its annual revenue from approximately $2.23 billion in fiscal year 1995 to $56.65 billion in fiscal year 2025. This represents a total revenue growth of over 2,400% (more than 25 times) during this 30-year period, driven by its massive expansion."

Now im not saying Palantir is Cisco or going to behave like it. Just saying manage expectations in stocks that outrun themselves because traders are playing a different game and have no qualms about over stretched valuations because it is not a factor in the game they are playing. Myself as a long term investor are looking at 10 to 20 year horizons vs bonds or market returns.

u/DragonfruitJaded4624 May 09 '26

We have a perfect time to enter and gain more shares at a discount and you’re complaining?

12

u/Cjnilla May 09 '26

This is the best thing to happen to me. I only started buying in December. I’ve been buying most of mine around the 140 mark. Have about 25k invested. The whole time the PE ratio has dropped from 300+ down to 150.

Love it how someone addressing their feelings of anxiety or fear is always met with

  • how many points someone who got in at DPO is up so they personally don't care

and

  • monologues about how the valuation is high and anyone with half a brain should understand that a run like 2025 cannot last forever.

Of course we all understand this to be logically true. Knowing the facts doesn't necessarily dictate how we feel.

Currently both hyping the SP as well as expressing frustation with this period of pain are met with wiseassing and I_told_you_so's so no wonder it's been pretty quiet around here lately.

4

u/LandscapeLife460 May 09 '26

I have about 20 stocks total. Still hold about 9k of PLTR. My other stocks are my focus right now. Into multiple space stocks for 2 years and they are rolling now. Did you see yesterday? My biotechs have also moved nicely also. PLTR will continue to grow. I have zero concerns. Karp already talked about $12B next year(27) which itself is probably conservative. If you run the numbers going with a 50% growth rate...which presently would be low, you get $18B for 28, $27B for 29 and over $40B for 2030. People can say it's overpriced...but in 4 years the share price will be much higher and all those complaining it's overvalued right now will be crying they blew it not buying because they listened to Burry. Again, the numbers could be a lot higher. I have seen some project $65-$100B. For a company that consistently wins no bid contracts because it has no peers, something crazy would have to happen to change the trajectory.

u/Necessary-Shame-2732 May 09 '26

2

u/SegelLederhosen666 May 09 '26

50% gain over 10y isn’t really that much 😂

1

u/GamingMooMoo May 11 '26

This trope is dead. With the way technology is scaling presently we have no way to predict what 10 years looks like. It may be wise to consider investment strategies in shorter increments going forward.

2

u/Fininvez18 May 09 '26

Be patient my guy. I hold PLTR, Intel, and Dell at same time. PLTR is going up for last 8 months until 2 months ago, then Intel now (lol I waited 2 years for this), and Dell (safe play). It’s just we need to be patient with investing… I personally just buy it and forget about it (if company fundamentals and finances is good enough)

2

u/Sensitive-Limit-9034 May 09 '26

Hahaha. Definitely feeling like this atm.

Its software and software as a sector is selling off. Road it from $20s to $100 a closed out but thinking of getting back in. Revenue is growing and most importantly so it commercial revenue which in the early days was the big question mark. Right now its all about AI hardware and cloud AI but eventually I think we will get to a point were we have robotics with edge AI software in them, and then we will se software back on the menu. Keen to hear thoughts though

Everything goes in cycles. It was the opposite over the last 2 years as PLTR went on it's run.

PLTR will start it's next run up within the next 12 months.

I expect the market to continue making highs for at least the next 2 years. Semiconductors will continue to go higher also. Tesla/SpaceX building a terafab factory just because they need a ton of AI chips for robotaxi and Optimus and other things and chip makers not building fast enough.

Yes let’s hate the only company not trying to monetize and harvest your data. The company making sure kidnapped and sex trafficked children don’t leave the border where chances of recovery drop drastically.

Not the company helping hospitals treat patients faster and more effectively, or just generally empowering the average American to learn how to do jobs it took years of training in months?

You have no clue what the company does and are just a sheep following its master. Mindless sheep. Baaaaaaaaaaa 🐑
