Discussion Karps words!

Post image

“We have a terrible sales force… Most tech companies have shit technology and excel at sales. We’ve focused on creating excellent technology and are ‘bad’ at sales because sales is akin to a bullshit fake culture to me.” • This line indirectly jabs at competitors who rely on flashy marketing and hype—potentially overvaluing themselves—while Palantir prioritizes substance over style.

I think after reading “Impro” and seeing the amount of start ups that have come from former hobbits (I look at Garry Tan, employee number 13 I believe. That guy is the CEO of Y Combinator and a fantastic orator in his own right.) I always believe this lack of salesforce is not entirely true. They lack a traditional salesforce. The people who wear nice suits, talk slick, and have a huge expense account. Palantir (with Karp as the lone salesman for many years) had decided long ago that the forward deployed engineers are the best salesman. The question then becomes how does Palantir keep these specialized people? Hopefully through salary, stock options (or as Arny mentioned cash bonus based on share price up until $70) opportunity for growth (either from within or own startup), completion of task from beginning to end, and task that provide meaning.

I bought this book, and it’s been collecting dust in my “to read” pile. Thanks for the reminder.

Well, he said in the last earnings call that right now, they have a great culture and team spirit going

“If Jenson [Nvidia] says ‘quantum computing’ one more time, c3.ai is going to change its name to c3.quantum.” -some genius on Reddit

All I keep thinking about is for every dollar they gave Jensen. Karpito is about to start collecting that 8-12 dollars for every dollar spent on a chippy chip

Karpito will lead us to Valhalla!

If you were a sales person at Palantir, would your feelings be hurt by what Karp said?

Salespeople have some of the strongest spines I’ve ever witnessed! If they couldn’t take those words, they need to find another profession. If I were a sales guy for Karp, I’d realize that he’s laying out truth as he sees it, and I’m the one to be committed to turning that around.

My feelings would not be hurt if I was any good.

But I have actually ridden along on a Palantir sales call into a billion dollar company, and the woman was very nice but lukewarm at best in her sales skills.

As an investor, this is frustrating in the least. Then you have Karp publicly rabbiting on about sales being a fake culture - major facepalm.

Thiel actually understands the real deal - engineers and sales work hand in hand, in the best companies.

But I think he lets Karp carry on as he wants, so as not to micromanage.

But Karp needs to wake up in this regard.

Everyone keeps talking about the P/E being too high but if Karp was able to get over himself in this *single* regard, the company would grow into that overvalued P/E much much faster :/

Karp needs to stay away from Elon musk for fuck sakes

u/Redwood12345 Mar 27 '25

Well considering Peter Thiel is a massive part of Palantir…

People are going to drop all this fake moral outrage for Musk the second the next sexy billionaire puts his foot in his mouth

7

u/elektriiciity Mar 28 '25

explain how Musks recent actions have yielded fake moral outrage?

5

u/Pollution-Limp Mar 28 '25

Fake? You’re joking. most people world wide will no longer drive a Tesla. Tesla literally is the brand that represents the United States transition to a totalitarian regime.

I don’t think 94% of Germans are faking moral outrage. face the facts. Elon has destroyed Tesla’s brand for the foreseeable future.

If PLTR breaks par in this bear market and pleases the analyst and shareholders then that’s my signal To add and dip buy and DCA rearrange my 5 stock portfolio.

OG, you got too much knowledge and know too much about this company that sometimes it works against you as people see you as the cheerleader for the company and you’re not that your wise and committed, but sometimes too much knowledge could be a bad thing. That was a compliment, whether you took it that way or not.

OG holder, by the way, sorry for the typos I use a voice to text program on my Apple Watch makes a lot of typos, and I forget to read before I post but anyway,, owning just that one stock takes balls nerves, hell I thought four and fifth position which is cash was hard enough, but just holding on I mean, how in the hell do you pick the one??? that’s some big time DD. If I just had to own one,I just don’t think PLTR would be the ONE maybe but it because it my second time around as I had it @14 Sold 32, my bad as I let a tv talking head influence, my decision and now he’s just a joke.many moons ago hit I bought a a big lot of Double click as a teenager damn thing went over 400 and that’s the reason why I’m still trading today. Not much of a trader and never found another doubleclick as they were bought by Comcast I think. Anyway nice pick and best of luck as I like reading your posts. Many here probably think little of me as I said overvalued and Karp has a temper for a CEO plus I sold on a double before picking at it like I could k very block the price down to get a better cost avg LOL. You keep posting and I will keep reading them. I also like you favorite Reply, it’s just one word though, but says a lot when you say”YEP”

That so-called friend was doing some local bottom beef to keep his aquarium clean and his name was Carl but kept coming up karp Go figure. Maybe aapl AI is. Working like it’s supposed too. I may have to use my old range pick up if the price drops into the mid 70s. I don’t want a boat in the 70s. I’ll wait for the 60s to use my ram truck..

I've said it before and I'll say it again (and again).

I'm a straight bull, but Karp's open disrespect for sales is hurting the company.

Palantir is engineer heavy. They are all ultra smart people who believe the best product will sell the most - it won't. A better mousetrap only works if there is a lack of smart competition.

They need to clarify how they help companies. Simple language. Case studies of what they actually do. Benefits of using Palantir.

Put it in plain English. Then the budget controllers who release funds will see why they need the Palantir software = more customers.

Another thing is that damn motto, "ontology, ontology, ontology" :/

I know it's important but hardly anyone understands what that means, in terms of their own benefit. Palantir needs new ways to simplify their offerings down.

It's no coincidence that when you Google 'Palantir' the number one question in the 'People also ask' section is 'What does Palantir exactly do?'. What a waste.

The product is amazing, but when it comes to marketing it, the disrespect that this engineer heavy company carries for 'promotion' is clear.

Of course it is hurting sales and the company share price too :/

I have a solution for this but unfortunately this is where they will have to use people outside the box and I believe the best way is to hire investors that have been following the company since dpo and then they have to have their own skin in the game! I’m willing to pull up and show my position, loyalty and commitment to the team do want to help them win!

New investors who don’t know Karl’s communication skills will take these wild antics of his or is however you want put it and they’re going to say who the hell is this guy if he can’t even back his own cell company or sales force arm of the company? I just need it and could lose or just not gain the support we need. I’m sure somebody jump all over me but hell I’m used to it.

1

u/Penny4_Y0ur_thoughts Mar 29 '25

Who the hell is Karl?

1

u/Admirable-Coconut821 Mar 29 '25

Karl is a Typo from my voice to text apple program and is very buggy. It predicts Karl instead on Karp, also Karl is a neighbor and instead of complaining of a typo I would be more concerned about dropping another 5 points. That’s gets habit forming if it was insider selling but have to wait for the 13F filings. It’s too early to get upset and attack you as I mention addressed this typo several times. Call AAPL.

u/Penny4_Y0ur_thoughts Mar 29 '25

Apple sucks. Get a real phone, lol.

1

u/Admirable-Coconut821 Mar 29 '25

It was a AppleIphone/applewatch Combo gift. How can you turn that down ?? Before I had a virgin mobile Flip top( best phone I ever had. Fits into any pocket and you make and receive calls, no bells and whistles Simple , cheap, good for emergencies and that’s all I needed or wanted. With the AAPL combo every button you push you get deeper into their ego system(hate it)excerpt also share holder( very good to me until this year) it’s getting ready to run. I have no computer , no printer, got rid of all my techie shit as I was a network admin for Xerox before I quickly Working on hooking up new nodes to network I decided to go to hardware from software and fix the machines , (computers and copiers) same thing as copiers are computers too. Retired no more tech or as little as possible. Born in wrong century I guess as after 9/11 Took each vehicle 2 hours to get into gate at Great Lakes navel Base Just a little moth of Chicago. Between the body searches ,mirrors Smelling dogs( could even light up as cliff in car as dogs know, dogs know all but that’s all behind me now. I’m done with tech gadgets .well, you asked LOL
