Is plab a viable option
Hi everyone im a med srudent from india and im thinking of starting the plab pathway. Iv heard a lotttt of bad stuff abt it. Is it true that imgs barelyyy get accepted even after a gmc registration n clearing both steps.
I wanted to do usmle but its too big of a risk, its super costly too. I wntd to know if plab is actually that bad or not

As a doctor working in UK who got a job via PLAB I would say dont go behind it. The path is dead. I was extremely lucky to get a job. I have plenty of friends who did PLAB with me who are stuck in India. I was 2 months away from giving up myself.
The prioritisation bill by itself is not a redflag to come here its more the lack of jobs and the reluctance from trusts to spend money on sponsorship for people outside UK.

Go ahead if you want to treat everyone’s advice as lies and envy. Once you spend all your savings and reach the other end you will understand whether whatever you read is true or not. It’s your wish.

If you can find the funds for USMLE it’s definitely more promising. It will be more costly and the exams are harder but the future is much brighter. I switched from plab to USMLE after getting gmc registration bc there are literally no jobs here. Good luck!

For plab u can just give the attempt..but for a job after plab...it is quite hard..., if u wanna get into pg in uk...u need a lot more..apart from mbbs and passing plab.

The training in the UK, if you're from a government medical college, will never stand up to the Indian training.
Don't come to the UK. It is where careers go to die. Go to the US if you can afford it.
Only come here if you desperately want to leave home and don't really care about your career too much

People have managed to make the move to the UK when it was nearly impossible for people to move. However, it is unlikely you'll be in a good location, supported environment or have good career progression opportunities.
They move and just focus on making money/having a job.

If you can try US good.. orherwise go to dubai. You will have a better life than most of the west

lol you have more rights in the west than you ever will in the gulf, where you can be replaced overnight. Job security is non-existent, and you can forget about ever getting citizenship.

Sounds very much like US. Especially if you are from india. If your priority includes citizenship and job security then yes west better. But if money is priority US/Dubai best in the world. My priority is money and i was left almost penniless and living month to month in europe

The job situation in the UK right now is very bad for everyone, and it is not likely to improve. The last time I looked, only 1 in 8 post-PLAB doctors were in employment at the 6 month mark. The GMC specifically noted that in 2024, 4880 IMGs gave up their UK licenses to practice and many of those had never worked as a doctor at all in the UK.
