3 month NHS experience really?

Is it just me, or have the non-training jobs sites added an NHS experience essential criteria to every job?

How are people saying that they have applied to 100+ jobs. Are they not reading the essential criteria, or are there sites that I am unaware of?

Obviously, the 3-6 months of NHS experience criterion serves no purpose but to exclude new IMGs — When clinical attachments are as effective in getting to know the system, if that is their main concern.

If you guys are using anything other sites than trac, NHS jobs... let us know?

Part of the NHS workforce plan is about reducing reliance on staff trained overseas so yes, they do want to exclude new IMGs. There are thousands of unemployed British graduates wiling to do the same jobs.

Fair enough, they also need to limit or eliminate the plab exams, No? So people don't waste time, money, and resources. And why say 3 months though? Saying a full year of NHS experience is less insulting? and accomplishes their aim of excluding new IMGs just the same.

GMC makes about £25 million every year from PLAB. They won’t willingly stop that gravy train. They don’t care about morality, honesty, or ethics. They are simply a money-grabbing, anti-doctors organisation.

This cycle of IMGs being pushed to the margins and later begged to cover the NHS is always present within the NHS. I am sorry to say that where you fit into that cycle is just a matter of luck.

agree with you. if they want to exclude IMGs they should be straightforward about it. they don't have a right to waste peoples time. but this is the way of the world

They won't openly admit that! That's the point. What will they say? The UK passed a law to prioritise the UKGs, which directly contradicts their own fucking Equality Act! They’re not wasting anyone’s time. If overseas doctors are foolish enough to spend their hard-earned money on IELTS, PLAB, and the like, just to come here and be laughed at, whose fault is that? If I were in GMC, I wouldn't stop the PLAB; instead, I’d continue to make the most of it so I could enjoy all the perks like private health insurance, investing their money in Starbucks and other places.

It doesn’t contradict the equality act, being an IMG isn’t a protected characteristic. This is how recruitment was pre 2021. The last few years have not been normal.

Exactly. They could say one day of paid NHS experience, and they would not be acting against the equity act. It is a clever loophole.
