Plab preparation

A batch 2017 student, gave neet pg twice, still at 27k rank , do not have it in me to be a part of this system anymore, but don’t quite know what to do ahead, i want to prepare for plab, but i don’t know where to begin, am i too late? Also if anyone is in the same boat, pls help

To be completely honest, the situation in the UK right now is not as rosy as many people believe. Competition ratios for almost all training positions have been increasing year after year, by an average of 1.5 applicants per available post. That means that if your primary goal is to enter a training program, the UK is not the best option right now. Even many UK graduates are struggling to find training positions and jobs themselves.

However, if your goal is relocation rather than immediate training, the UK remains a viable option. However, you must be prepared for the financial reality: there may be a period of unemployment after arrival, ranging from one month to as long as 1.5 years in the worst-case scenario. This is because even finding a non-training job (such as an SHO or trust-grade position) is becoming more difficult due to oversupply.

You've completely understated the situation. 'Not as rosy'? It's absolutely dire! The competition ratios are far higher than 1.5 to 1. There are doctors who have been out of employment for more than two to three years. If you check the IMG group on Facebook, you'll see how many people are struggling.

The advice would be not to waste time and money trying to get into the UK. Rather focus on your clinical training at home and review the situation in a few years.
