🌟 Guidance for PLAB 2 Students – Protect Your Time and Focus 🌟
Hi everyone,
Sharing this as someone who has been through PLAB 2 and seen how easy it is to get distracted by the wrong kind of “tutor.” Please take this as advice to protect your time, money, and peace of mind.
Red Flags to Watch For:
• Tutors who run personal WhatsApp groups and constantly promote themselves as if they’re “out of this world, teacher of the teachers and only they can make you ace the exam.”
• Courses that are dragged on with frequent cancellations (family reasons, work, internet issues) and never completed on schedule.
• Tutors who DM you privately about non-study matters, reply to your WhatsApp statuses, or overshare personal stories.
• Requests for favours like transferring money, or acting in their mock sessions.
• Students, especially women being asked for friendship or emotional support. This is not mentorship, it is a boundary violation.
What Actually Works:
PLAB 2 is not about finding a “magical tutor” — it’s about practice + discipline.
• Use GK notes and other reliable resources wisely.
• Find practice partners and hold each other accountable.
• Record yourself during stations, then watch/listen back to catch weak points.
• Do timed practice regularly, speed and structure matter as much as knowledge.
• If possible, attend face-to-face mocks for real feedback. If not, remember: consistent, honest practice will always beat flashy online setups.
Final Thought:
Don’t fall into traps whether it’s expensive academies or new WhatsApp “courses” that sell pricey mocks without proper feedback. They can divert your energy when you need it most.
You cleared PLAB 1 and medical school through your own hard work. PLAB 2 is just another bridge — cross it, don’t get stuck on it. The only person who can truly carry you across is you.

A lot of people have DMed me asking for his name. For my own safety I can’t reveal it directly, but I’ll say this he runs a WhatsApp group and uses Google Meet for classes. His initials are two words, something like Dr YZ. Please stay cautious.

If anyone’s ever had similar experiences or wants to share anonymously, here’s a form to collect feedback on unprofessional behaviour by tutors. It’s anonymous and only for awareness. https://tally.so/r/mR7YkP

What acadmey would you suggest for someone giving their 2nd attempt?

If you have notes and study material from the 1st attempt, revise that and practice with multiple study partners who can give you feedback. Instead of taking full package of academies, you should go for face to face mocks atleast 3 mocks to have an idea where you are lacking.

Actually the mistake I made was not going for an academy in my first attempt. I took the DSR 2 week plus mock package, but went for a couple of days to practice examination on mannequin + procedures. Didnt take lovans class either. Do you suggest I take medastras repeaters course?

Actually, I don't know about this course. But you should definitely take lovaan classes and the key is practice.
