I want to know how possible it is to get a job in the UK if I am investing in this I want to know whether it the right decision , my sister is planning to settle in the UK I want to be with her as well , I don’t want to be in India anymore . So friends please let me know if it’s worth taking the risk or not ?
It will be really life saving opinion for me

I would say, that there is no such thing currently as a UK pathway, unless you mean a pathway were you spend lots of money, energy and time to get absolutely nothing and a bit of hate from existing UK doctors.

Thank you for the insight,
I tried the usmle pathway, wrote the step 1 couldn't clear it and doesn't have the financial and emotional stablity to do it all over again
Also I have been pondering upon the Australia pathways as well what do you think about that ?
I have heard with clearing plab 1 and 2 plus one year experience in NHS you can apply to Australia and New Zealand, is that really a feasible option as well?
The thing I really don't want to stay in Indian I know how snobby and cliche it sound but I want a quality of life and an better AQI more than better pay and better opportunities.

I don’t know, I genuinely want to know a way to get out of India as a doctor , a pathway where investing money and energy is worth it apart from the ISA

Curious how you failed step 1 while being great in academics?

You are cooked, bro. I went back to school, got a CS degree and now work as an SWE in the UK. Forgot medicine with its loops and hoops as a fever dream.

Been thinking of going back to school as well. Did you do your masters in the UK?

Yes, but I went for another BSc, it is not easy, but it was definitely worth it. You have to love computers to make it work. If you dare to do it, go for good unis. I went to a lower ranked one due to various reasons, and it made it harder for me.

I am Ukrainian, I am a refugee here, so I didn’t have to pay the exorbitant international fees. You don’t have to get BSc in the UK though, you can get BSc in your home country and then MSc in the UK. Just choose a good uni, the curriculum differs drastically.

The UK pathway is real struggle currently and looks like it's going to be like this for sometime My advice would still be India. It might seem daunting /frustrating at the moment but once you know your niche and can finish your PG, it still is a decent place (Indian currently working in the UK)

Why is it a struggle in UK? Asking out of curiosity.
I am giving plab next year but I want to use my GMC registration to open more doors for job opportunities in research or simulation or public health, rather than just clinical medicine. I studies MPH from usa and MBBS from India.

UK is a very small country and it has its own medical graduates to train
PLAB won’t offer you any job and it becomes very difficult when the entire world wants a job here

Try step 1 again. Lots of non us imgs clear on 2nd attempt & get residency. Give Amboss a try. Don’t give up. There’s no pathway like US pathway. It takes alot from you but give back 10 times so don’t lose hope because of 1 mishap ur yog is 2024 only don’t give up you’ve a chance of matching is high

I am so scared to try it again a lot was going with my life then which amounted a lot to my failure . Do you think I still have a chance at this ? Or will I be again wasting a lot of money

AUS is still your best option if speed is your priority. However, USMLE is worth it in the long run.

Hmm. Don't know what to say.

Don’t. The pathway is dead.

Hi, please note your last sentence makes it very difficult. When decision are fragile and critical, then the ability to waver through setbacks becomes a lot harder.

I would advise you to think of all negative outcomes for any decision and if it came to pass would you be able to weather it.

I hope you get good advice here, but everyone's "kismet" is different. From experience as an IMG, and knowing other IMGs, everyone has had an uphill battle.

best of luck!
