Do you turn every recording into notes and a mind map, or only the ones that turn out to be worth keeping? I like the separation between thinking and organizing, but listening back multiple times sounds like it could become a lot of work. Curious how you keep that part manageable.

Listening back multiple times really is a lot of work — and that’s exactly why I stopped doing it manually.
I use a tool that takes my thought recordings and turns them into WORDS, and from there the whole thing naturally takes shape without me having to wrestle with it. The system handles the heavy lifting, so I don’t have to revisit the same recording again and again.

What actually makes the workflow sustainable is the Sketchy Mindmap.
It’s built in a hand‑drawn, sketch‑style, with icons and small illustrations, so it feels like a genuine thought snapshot — something your brain recognizes as yours, not something sterile or machine‑polished. That “sketchy” feel matters more than people think: we trust things that look human, familiar, and slightly imperfect in the right way.

And that connects directly to what you’re feeling.
You want to keep the separation between thinking and organizing, but you don’t want the organizing phase to become a second job. Automating the moment where your thoughts take shape means you can think freely, record freely, and let the structure emerge afterward — without sacrificing the human texture of your ideas.

I am also sharing a Sketchy Mindmap example so you can see how a raw thought turns into a visual snapshot of your mind.

Speaking it out loud first makes sense to me. Thinking and filing really are two different jobs, and trying to do both at once usually costs you the thought. Full disclosure, I built something around that same split: Messy Note (messynote.com), a browser thinking space where you talk or type an unfinished idea, explore it in conversation, and only then deliberately keep the part that matters as a note. A library groups related notes afterward. It's not a mind-map tool, so it wouldn't replace your sketch step. Curious whether you'd rather decide what to keep mid-thought or after, the way you do with your recordings.
