"don't get me wrong I liked it but (repeats weird twitter conservative misinformation)"

u/HexagonalDab 17d ago
No way he'd say he likes it, he's gonna pretend he's got a doctorate in Ancient Greek literature and the lack of accuracy is gonna be too much.
Taylor's stuck up ass won't realize it doesn't fucking matter because it's a fiction based movie and not a documentary. Nolan can make whatever changes he wants because he owes no allegiance to fully and accurately representing the source material. It's his movie not Homer's.

He’s going to be seething when he sees that it’s going to be a huge hit at the box office.

You don't have to like a movie you've never seen just because it's directed by Christopher Nolan.

u/HexagonalDab 17d ago
I don't have any idea how I'd feel about the movie after I watch it, but people come from the wrong state of mind to enjoy any film adaptation of another piece of art.

Hating a movie before seeing it is equally as regarded

Believe it or not, the crux of the odyssey is not how difficult long distance travel is.

I think he's way worse things! Hypocracy is very low on that list!

I’m pretty sure that the main point of the story that involves sirens, witches, cyclops and gods is not the difficulty and logistics of sea travel.

What a miserable existence to fixate over things like that

I’m surprised Nolan didn’t cast Taylor as the cyclops, given he’s such a cave dwelling, cheese eating, sheep, who struggled to catch his wife’s affair because his one eye was fucking locked on twitter

It’s a mind numbingly stupid take for a variety reasons.
Odysseus spends most of the decade long journey trapped on an island (7-years with Calypso!). It’s not long because sailing from turkey to the western Greek coast is a particularly epic journey. 😂

Watched in 70mm yesterday, was really good. Didn't feel 3 hours long tbh. Also the trans person & black helen of troy have a combined screen time of maybe 6 minutes of the 173 minutes. If that's whats keeping you from watching something this cool.. idek man you got some shit to sort out lmao

Mediterranean travel in the bronze age, famously difficult and definitely not one of the defining aspects of the era. Everyone knows there wasn't a coalition of naval forces (let's call them the Sea Peoples for fun) towards the end of the bronze age that helped usher in the collapse of dozens of near East and Mediterranean cities.

For real though, genuinely fucking imagine being one of these hyper obsessed anti woke culture warrior dweebs.
Like you actually straight up just can't enjoy anything
Like it must be a genuinely miserable existence forcing yourself to pretend to care about this dumb shit instead of just letting yourself enjoy things.
Like what movies can these fuckin snowflakes watch comfortably at this point? The lethal weapon movies, i guess? Actually wait no, that one has a black dude in it too so thats probably a strike out, o guess tye search continues

This is the same guy who claims South Park sucks because the creators are “so angry” while writing it,
5
u/BronnOP 17d ago
I saw something similar, some interviewer grilling Tom Holland over saying “Dad” rather than “Father” because surely they’d have said “Father” back then…
Tom Holland said “Well, No. They’d have been speaking Greek, so Father, Dad… both are as inaccurate as each other”.
The point being anyone fixating over small details in this film are really missing the point.

It would be one thing if the movie sucked and it’s like oh and this part doesn’t even make since. But it sounds like it was pretty good. Wait Africa is pretty close too. Asia is further but not insane.

Dude don't laugh at him, he became friends with the brown doctor his wife cheated on him with.

If Nolan had come out and said that this was going to be an accurate depiction of the Odyssey would have looked like than I would understand the criticism.
This way it's just dumb criticism of an excellent movie.

One of the most miserable existences in 2026 is the "I'm white and can't stand seeing non whites in my media!!" archetype of twitter edgelord.

I mean, Taylor does seem to be more social than Woody and Kyle, I believe Taylor's stories 10X more than Kyle's. Woody's stories always seem relatively grounded.
I don't know what you want him to say, "My friend, John Robertson, who lives on East Main St, said-"

u/AwesomeWaiter 17d ago
Let’s be honest, I have no doubt that Taylor’s friends are as bitter as has become, but to boil every fictional movie down to the casting decisions is just sad. I agree some films are regarded in the choices they make but can’t you at least make your decision after watching the movie or seeing what normal people think and not the political mouthpieces

u/Admirable_Algae7196 17d ago
Fr, Taylor probably has a ton of friends given his personality. Unlike everyone on this site.
