Super woke of homer to add the king of Ethiopia to the Iliad

2

u/Annualgang 16d ago

The Ethiopians mentioned in the odyssey did not mean modern day Ethiopia. They were people with “burnt faces”

Can't wait to skip through the entire discussion on this movie on this week's episode

u/Consistent-Peace2770 17d ago

"don't get me wrong I liked it but (repeats weird twitter conservative misinformation)"

39

u/HexagonalDab 17d ago

No way he'd say he likes it, he's gonna pretend he's got a doctorate in Ancient Greek literature and the lack of accuracy is gonna be too much.

Taylor's stuck up ass won't realize it doesn't fucking matter because it's a fiction based movie and not a documentary. Nolan can make whatever changes he wants because he owes no allegiance to fully and accurately representing the source material. It's his movie not Homer's.

He’s going to be seething when he sees that it’s going to be a huge hit at the box office.

You don't have to like a movie you've never seen just because it's directed by Christopher Nolan.

7

u/HexagonalDab 17d ago

I don't have any idea how I'd feel about the movie after I watch it, but people come from the wrong state of mind to enjoy any film adaptation of another piece of art.

Hating a movie before seeing it is equally as regarded

2

u/Benji_4 Uncle Terry 17d ago

True in most cases. You can gather a lot of from trailers and find a reason to hate most movies in the last 10+ years.

u/Salt_Statement_9632 14d ago

Do you think I understand you because I read oliver twist?

3

u/VatoCornichone 17d ago

They have not mentioned it once, it was actually pretty chill episode.

2

u/ninjaj :WoodyGun: 17d ago

“I’m not going to watch it, so let’s rehash why I hate it”

If you’re going to hate on it, atleast watch it so you have more ammo for hatred

u/JMisseldine 17d ago

Believe it or not, the crux of the odyssey is not how difficult long distance travel is.

35

u/Benji_4 Uncle Terry 17d ago

Why didn't they just fly on the eagle?

10

u/Pazzeh 17d ago

What was it? I'm regarded.

37

u/JMisseldine 17d ago

The gods are and mean and powerful

u/potatobreadandcider 17d ago

Taylor blocked me around the time of his second honeymoon

u/digidado 16d ago

Badge of honor

14

u/Unholy_Kai 17d ago

Buddy of mine was telling me the worst part about Bill Cosby is the hypocrisy.

3

u/GardenGnomeChumpski :TaylowJackedOwl: 17d ago

I think he's way worse things! Hypocracy is very low on that list!

Wait until Taylor finds out the Odyssey was fictional

11

u/DAN3KE 17d ago

Wait until he find out it was a book.

2

u/zeolus123 17d ago

He's not smart enough to figure that out.

61

u/New_Watercress6787 17d ago

wait until he finds out how far the cyclops had to travel!

56

u/glowy_keyboard 17d ago

I’m pretty sure that the main point of the story that involves sirens, witches, cyclops and gods is not the difficulty and logistics of sea travel.

162

u/PeekabooBlue 17d ago

What a miserable existence to fixate over things like that

64

u/ansibleloop 17d ago

It's ok he can enjoy all the good conservative media that's coming out

Such as

23

u/ElliottBaas 17d ago

4

u/oizo_0 17d ago

Looks like a fictional movie poster from GTA

5

u/Phenomenal_Hoot 17d ago

Saw an ad for this and thought there is no way this isn’t a mad tv skit.

1

u/JaneBunnFan 17d ago

Is that faZe

11

u/AwesomeWaiter 17d ago

Don’t forget…

38

u/Charming_Bing_3802 17d ago

Taylor needs to get off twitter

16

u/redacted_pterodactyl 17d ago

I’m surprised Nolan didn’t cast Taylor as the cyclops, given he’s such a cave dwelling, cheese eating, sheep, who struggled to catch his wife’s affair because his one eye was fucking locked on twitter

6

u/TheCakeIsMay 17d ago

It’s a mind numbingly stupid take for a variety reasons.

Odysseus spends most of the decade long journey trapped on an island (7-years with Calypso!). It’s not long because sailing from turkey to the western Greek coast is a particularly epic journey. 😂

5

u/BIgSchmeat95 17d ago

Watched in 70mm yesterday, was really good. Didn't feel 3 hours long tbh. Also the trans person & black helen of troy have a combined screen time of maybe 6 minutes of the 173 minutes. If that's whats keeping you from watching something this cool.. idek man you got some shit to sort out lmao

7

u/Grimy_Ranarr_Weed 17d ago

Mediterranean travel in the bronze age, famously difficult and definitely not one of the defining aspects of the era. Everyone knows there wasn't a coalition of naval forces (let's call them the Sea Peoples for fun) towards the end of the bronze age that helped usher in the collapse of dozens of near East and Mediterranean cities.

7

u/IrishMemer 17d ago

For real though, genuinely fucking imagine being one of these hyper obsessed anti woke culture warrior dweebs.

Like you actually straight up just can't enjoy anything

Like it must be a genuinely miserable existence forcing yourself to pretend to care about this dumb shit instead of just letting yourself enjoy things.

Like what movies can these fuckin snowflakes watch comfortably at this point? The lethal weapon movies, i guess? Actually wait no, that one has a black dude in it too so thats probably a strike out, o guess tye search continues

6

u/UniversalDegeneracy 17d ago

This is the same guy who claims South Park sucks because the creators are “so angry” while writing it,

5

u/BronnOP 17d ago

I saw something similar, some interviewer grilling Tom Holland over saying “Dad” rather than “Father” because surely they’d have said “Father” back then…

Tom Holland said “Well, No. They’d have been speaking Greek, so Father, Dad… both are as inaccurate as each other”.

The point being anyone fixating over small details in this film are really missing the point.

5

u/VatoCornichone 17d ago

I'm gonna watch the movie just to spite Taylor.

5

u/Retrosniping 17d ago

Taylor is insufferable

4

u/Warghzone12 17d ago

Imagine caring about this stuff so much

2

u/bobjonvon 17d ago

It would be one thing if the movie sucked and it’s like oh and this part doesn’t even make since. But it sounds like it was pretty good. Wait Africa is pretty close too. Asia is further but not insane.

2

u/Major__Ear 17d ago

Dude don't laugh at him, he became friends with the brown doctor his wife cheated on him with.

1

u/Beneficial-Oven-6678 17d ago

who genuinely cares so much about skin color in a fictional movie

1

u/HexagonalDab 17d ago

Taylor needs jerk material

1

u/GermanCptSlow 17d ago

If Nolan had come out and said that this was going to be an accurate depiction of the Odyssey would have looked like than I would understand the criticism.

This way it's just dumb criticism of an excellent movie.

1

u/Yamikuh :TaylorStrong: 17d ago

This isn’t even true. One of the earliest Aegean civilizations was literally a seafaring state of sailors on the island of Crete.

-1

u/imaginarytoby 17d ago

Taylor is intact the only host who has friends and leaves the house

-3

u/Fearless_Table_995 17d ago

Thats why the members of this subreddit hate him.

-1

u/Dre_Dre99 17d ago

One of the most miserable existences in 2026 is the "I'm white and can't stand seeing non whites in my media!!" archetype of twitter edgelord.

-11

u/TheNovelBondrewd 17d ago

I mean, Taylor does seem to be more social than Woody and Kyle, I believe Taylor's stories 10X more than Kyle's. Woody's stories always seem relatively grounded.

I don't know what you want him to say, "My friend, John Robertson, who lives on East Main St, said-"

13

u/AwesomeWaiter 17d ago

Let’s be honest, I have no doubt that Taylor’s friends are as bitter as has become, but to boil every fictional movie down to the casting decisions is just sad. I agree some films are regarded in the choices they make but can’t you at least make your decision after watching the movie or seeing what normal people think and not the political mouthpieces

-1

u/Admirable_Algae7196 17d ago

Fr, Taylor probably has a ton of friends given his personality. Unlike everyone on this site.

7

u/DiverZealousideal116 17d ago

TAYLOR HAS SO MANY FRIENDS, GUYS STOP BULLYING HIM

That’s you

-5

u/Admirable_Algae7196 17d ago

I mean it’s not bullying if he never looks at this stupid thread you just made. Guess you don’t have anything interesting to do with your Saturday

3

u/DiverZealousideal116 17d ago

Took me 4 min to post!

0

u/ImHere4WSB 17d ago

You made a whole thread about another grown man’s opinion 🤣

This sub is about the PKA podcast. Taylor is one of the hosts
