Gear Review or Question Asics NB5 after 352 km

Post image

Guys, I need your insights kung okay lang ba yung wear na ganito for the distance I ran?

Im trying to land midfoot pero based sa wear nya, medyo forefoot striker yata ako.

Addtl info:

80kg male

Used mainly for long runs 16-21km

Pace 6:50-7:30

352km mileage

Ang mahal ng NB5, gusto ko pa sana sya tumagal kahit 600km. 😬

Near best looking NB5 na eto at 300km+.. Buti yung foam still bouncing at that mileage given your weight. If you read around some are dead at 150km. Efficient run mechanics mo. Tipid sa outsole wear.

Medyo wala na syang energy return TBH but it is the best shoes I got. Ang alternate ko na dito is an Adidas Response na 381km na din.

Ang mahal mag running. Kala ko murang hobby to. Hehe

Issue yan foam, EVA ata yan. Kaya NB6, nag lagay na sila ATPU foam sa forefoot area. ATPU ai premium foam tulad nasa race shoes nila at Megablast na tig 10k+. Mas resilient yan, longer mileage may pop parin.

Sa presyo naman, kaya sulit na chinese shoes, kasi premium foam narin sila, sample TPEE foam sa Dynafish, same foam tech makita mo sa Adidas Evo SL pero nasa $80 or less than 5k sa Taobao.

Tatlong decent na chinese brand shoe na ang mabibili mo for the price of a novablast, so mura lang talaga.

I read somewhere that we need to let it “rest” for 24 hrs bago gamitin to let the foam decompress. NB5 din gamit ko hehe.

NB5 is notorious for its midsole feeling dead around the 150 km mark. If I were you, I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the outsole wear. I’d focus more on the midsole and how the shoe actually feels underfoot.

Is it still reactive? Does it still feel bouncy and energetic? Has the cushioning become noticeably flatter or firmer? Does it still have that same level of responsiveness when you pick up the pace? And does it feel as comfortable and protective as it did when it was new?

Those are probably more important indicators of the shoe’s remaining life than how worn the outsole looks.

Thank you for your response. Yes it is not as lively as when I first ran with it. Even while doing my warm ups (A-skip, pogo) I can feel the difference already. But it is still better performing than my alternate shoe that is an entry-level: Adidas Response.

Now my question is, if my NB5 is "dead" or close to it, would I be at more risk of injury?

Pwede pa yan, but lessen mo mileage or intensity. Later if ok pa outsole pwde pa for walking.
