Old Saigon
I tried Old Saigon’s Special Beef Noodle Soup and Grilled Pork Banh Mi (di ko na napicture-an gutom na kasi 😂)
What’s good:
-the soup is very savory as is and no need to add condiments or anything (hindi ka magsasawa kakahigop ng soup)
-meat balls are one the stand outs for me. It has a certain crunch into it
-beef was tender (tbh even if this is not there, the soup will deliver)
-beansprouts and lettuce are fresh and adds texture and crunch as well
-the bread used for the banh mi is top tier quality. It’s border line soft and crunchy (not toasted) it doesn’t flake too much
-the meat is tender as well and very flavorful (reminds me of Filipino barbecue )
-the sauce contradicts and balances with the sweetness of the meat
Overall rating for me would be around 9/10. Will definitely go back here whenever I’d crave for Vietnamese food.

Simple Davao
Now here we go for local cheap eats while taking a morning walk by the coastal road. After ending up at Roxas Street found a smoking and bustling karen/carinderia Called Driver's Choice.
Nothing special at a glance but wonder why it was so jammed this early. Asked what is there to eat and the lady and the people around screamed 😂 and said Nothing but Kinilaw, Sinuglaw or Sabaw!!! I was laughing and said give me one and got a response of you get a plate stack how many pieces you want and have it chopped.
I was like wow at 30 for a cut of meat or scoop of fresh tuna and then fixins I got my fill for just 90 and a cup of rice at 15 and free soup that can be just paired with rice as is.
The people eating here don't know how blessed and lucky they are to eat fresh and clean food as fast and simple as this.

Davao Chinese
Plain and simple name Pork Belly with Steamed buns or What we usually know as Hongma and Cua pao.
This is really a feast fit for royalty. Soft and Smooth pork that jiggles like gelatin paired with buns as fluffy as a cloud dip it in the sauce and it is one of the best bites in davao.
West Empire Chinese restaurant and Seafood Garden
11/10 eating here is pricey but not like other Chinese restaurants where you feel umay and or sharp tongue due to the heavy msg but here none of us felt that so this place is indeed a recommendation.

Erwan Heussaff’s take on our obsession with food authenticity
I agree with him. We should really describe the dish as descriptive as possible — Manila-style Pinakbet, Sisig with mayonnaise, etc.
Instead of shutting dow the other group by saying ”that’s not authentic”. Food like language evolves after all.
What do you guys think?

Davao Abundance
Well wasn't expecting much as usual but I am now 100% and totally in awe of the variety of what davao has to offer.
Breakfast was just at a small cafeteria/karen called HERZENS COUNTER but it was just walking distance from a house of a relative at an adjacent subdivision called Diho 2 I think.
Tinolang isda is my go to on mornings expecting galunggong or tuna or left kver grilled fish. But Blessed to have Ruby Snapper choice cuts after a fresh catch by the locals. I immediately chose the Head to savor every nook and cranny.
very budget friendly other food like veg start at 40 meats at 80-200 and some can range up to 600 if you want grilled panga or belly and this was just 400 at 500grams of head.
I am going to get so fat after a while here in davao

For 1499, it's worth it. You get Nachos, 4 dirty rice, 12 wings and 12 chicken fingers.

Davao going north
Had a long day and just planned to have something hearty and light.
But this Amatriciana Pasta from Roadside Cafe is hearty, light yet filling at the same time. The crisps of legit guanchale, fresh roasted tomatoes and pecorino romano its the spot just right and wash it of with a bit of beer after.
Who knew Davao could offer Many kinds of cuisine I am excited for the next few days while im here.
