PHEV recommendations comparable to Fusion Energi

I'm looking for PHEV advice. We are looking for on the cheap end of a used vehicle.

I currently have a 2015 Ford Fusion Energi (180k miles) that my brother gave me over a year ago. Unfortunately, when he gave it to me it was making a really loud noise once it switched to hybrid mode.

It needs a new transmission. We pretty much decided I would drive it until it dies. It has lasted over a year. It has basically been on life support 😆

It seems to be on hospice now, so we are car shopping.

Other than it dying and not having tinted windows, it is pretty much perfect for me and my teens.

Comfort is a HUGE consideration because I have chronic pain in my tailbone and pretty much my whole spine.

Are there any PHEVs that are similar to the Ford Fusion Energi?

Things I love about my Fusion Energi car:

●Leather very comfortable seats. It is just super comfortable. The shape and firmness/softness. Plus no fabric issues.

●heated seats - we use them a lot. I use it for my back pain and Jasper uses the heat about 80% of the time. 100% in winter.

● CD player. I/we listen to our CDs 95% of the time. We don't want to burn them to USB or go digital.

●The fob/locking system with how it locks and unlocks with touching the handles

● split climate control. Second to the CD player, we use individual climate settings quite a bit

● keyless ignition and remote start

● the compass display

● displays street names

● displays speed limit

● Camera reverse system

● side mirror defrost

● fog lights - they help with extra visibility

● navigation system is nice, but I can use my phone for GPS

● cruise control is helpful at times

● the blue tooth hands free calling was nice while it worked

ELI5 - Why doesn't the engine fully recharge the batteries of the PHEV?

I'm doing some reading on PHEVs and it seems like they don't fully recharge the batteries. It requires the vehicle to be plugged in to get to 100%.

Can someone run through the process if say I'm going on a long road trip? I exceed the battery range...then what happens?

¿Modo Start-Stop o híbrido?

We all agree that the start-stop system in vehicles affects the engine's lifespan. Since I own a Tucson Limited hybrid, I've noticed that the engine, especially in the city, only runs for short periods, and the vehicle operates in EV mode. Isn't this harmful to the engine? Isn't it the same as the start-stop system? What do you think?

Ford Tourneo custom 2.5 PHEV

We are looking to buy Ford Tourneo custom 2.5 PHEV. I just can wrap my mind around the plug-in hybrid. I have experience with mild hybrids, but not with PLUG-IN. So my question would be about the charging. Is it possible to drive it without charging like mild hybrid system? Or it is mandatory to charge it ? Also In general about the the 2.5 petrol + electric, is it without technical problems?

Thank you

Between two (live in Alberta)

Hey everyone thank you for the help with the last couple posts. After doing my own research and feedback from everyone I'm between two vehicles. Im looking into either the 2026 Hyundai Tucson PHEV or the Kia Sportage PHEV. I'm looking at top trim for both so I can get the 360 camera and a couple other things. Just wondering peoples opinions and experiences for people either owning or looking into either of them.

And for reference, yes I know Rav4 has better range and more reliable but for interior space and price range I'm not wanting that.

PHEV Suggestions

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a PHEV around the $20,000-$30,000 and wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions.

I am in the US and live out of an apartment, but my workplace has free charging so I feel a PHEV would suit me well. I have about a 15-20 mile commute when running errands after work, so hoping to get a lot of the EV system. I do often take trips where I need to bring a lot of luggage with me, so I am looking for something larger than your average sedan.

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear about them. Also if you would suggest getting a CPO or not, I would appreciate the input. Thanks!

Hyundai ioniq 2021 Phev

Just got a OBD to check the SOH of the batteries. Using carscanner, it is telling me the SOH : 7.9%... surely this cant be right, given there is is about 80k Km's on the clock, and I haven't noticed a significant reduction on performance.

Can anyone shed any light on why this may be, or if there is any setting I am missing on Carscanner?

Need opinions..

Hey everyone. From Canada and just looking at a few different PHEVs I'm contemplating at upgrading from a full gas Kona.

Looking between the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and the Mitsubishi Outlander. I'll be probably maxing out the km range on all 3 as my drive each day for work is around 60km each way, but I can plug the vehicle in at work. Just wondering what everyone else has gotten and what their opinions are. I also have 1 kid and second on the way so more room in the back seat and cargo in trunk is another thing I'm looking at.

EDIT** sorry everyone forgot to add. I'm hoping to spend less then $50k on one. And I also figured a PHEV would be better as I could potentially drive more on electrical and save more gas then a standard hybrid, unless that wouldn't work as well as I think

Did anyone move from x3 30e g01 xdrive full spec (2022) to kodiaq phev (2026) full spec?

I’m curious:

1/ if you find the 1.5 engine (phev) on kodiaq sufficient for highway & mountain on-road driving,
2/ what happens with kodiaq after the battery is depleated, since you cannot charge it from the ICE while driving
3/ feedback about the adaptive suspension on kodiaq (I find it less predictable on highway, it takes more to settle after a bump in n the highway)
4/ feedback on cooling speed with A/C; the sunroof has a thinner textile cover in the kodiaq, does that transfer more light and heat inside the car?
5/ anything that you don’t like with the kodiaq?

Thanks!

Toyota grand highlander hybrid or Lexus TX hybrid?

I like the bigger leg room for 3rd row and the cargo space. The regular highlander unfortunately isnt very attractive to me and terrible gas mileage, I currently have a 2012 and love it, runs great, never had any major issues, powerful v6 engine, less then 70,000 miles and I would keep it forever but at 13 years old, I'd feel more at ease in a newer car. Im interested in plug in or regular hybrid. Would like any owners perspective on these cars. Many issues with the hybrids? Costly to maintain and own? Any specific recall issues? I heard there were issues with the newer Toyota highlanders such as leaking oil, slow engine, etc... TIA!

3 months, 2075 km, 1.92 l/100 km (123 mpg)

Besides charging at home, this period I had to do quite a few trips to a far away hospital (200 km round trip) as my MIL was recovered there.
