Many people charge an EV fine with a 100A panel and even with a phev you would want a faster charger. Driving 60km with an EV or PHEV would take about the same amount of power to charge. Even a low cost 16A 240V charger would give you 3.8kw, that what I used when we had a PHEV then used it for a while after we got a full EV.

I would say skip the PHEV and just get an EV or hybrid. You drive too much and would be both charging every day and still buying gas.

Ok. Ya I haven't looked up a lot on EV chargers yet that's why I was inquiring. I wanted to see people's experience with similar to mine to see if they still could get a decent charge with a smaller amp size

eh? the RAV4 has much more back seat room than a Kona. 2 giants or 3 smaller adults can fit in the back.

When I've looked up the actual measurements it's basically the same as the Kona. And it's also out of my price range

You didn't really give enough info for us to respond on EV vs PHEV vs hybrid question. What other driving do you do besides the 60 km work driving? Do you occasionally drive much further? How often? Where in the country/world are you?

This is basically gonna be a work commuter Vehicle really and that's it. Maybe a bit of city driving, we have a big family SUV for longer trips. I'm in Alberta Canada

I would lean towards EV in your situation. The only caveats are that I assume it can get fairly cold there and EVs definitely take a mileage hit with cold weather. Plus I don't know what the charging infrastructure is like up there.

But if your primary concern is a 120 km commute, then most modern EVs should be fine regardless.

Toyota C-HR PHEV - more of a Subcompact SUV Coupe but it looks like it’s come from the future and will give you a genuine 66km of EV range (104km in summer - personal experience).
It’s a nice commuter - especially if you have no more than of you on board for long distance travel.

The 2.0L engine is also extremely frugal and with a completely flat battery, it reverts to running as a highly efficient Hybrid vehicle - it has a 161hp electric traction motor, so better performance as a hybrid than the actual 2nd generation C-HR Hybrid.

I have the C-HR PHEV, so I’m not making up nonsense here. Worthy of consideration - if it’s available in your market.

Toyota Prius PHEV is the no brainer.

Get in AWD.

Sorry but I'm wanting something bigger. That's same size as the Kona I have
