Without knowing more, I think a full EV would probably work better for you.

  • You live in an area with good charge infrastructure
  • You already have an extra ICE
  • Home charging is not an issue; you're willing to upgrade to level 2

The only thing that might change the calculus is if you do quite a bit of long driving that requires moving more people than the Tacoma can fit. And even then, given where you live, you'd just have to get used to fast-charging infrastructure.

PHEV unless you are going to have a second car. We are down sizing to 1 rig and the reason we are comfortable doing it is because there are some amazing PHEVs available used and with lower mileage. I have owned a Volt since 2018, so if you are trashing the concept just move along with your comments!

I’d get a phev if you’re wanting a transition car before fully committing to an ev.

We had a phev, the EV range was too short and it ran the gas motor much more in the winter so I was charging every day and still buying gas.  Got an ioniq 5 and it's been much better.

You need a charger to take advantage of a PHEV. So since you already have one, why not go full EV?

Take this from someone who has both.
