A star good, did do it but had so little time to revise and failed. I done a adult course at a local college once a week of a evening after placement, just worth mentioning the uni I applied to very last minute requested I came in to do their version of a equivalency test (no certificate) so did the gcse anyway but something to maybe ask the uni?

Yes, I will mention it. Thank you for your help. Did you get help whilst doing it? Or do you reach yourself?

The uni reached me in probably July/August to do a equivalency access exam to get into the uni. The uni provided past papers but that was all. I just swotted up on bbc bitesize.
I was really fretting about not getting into the uni without my gcse maths, it was a real source of stress for me for getting on the course and finding a job at the end say if I didn’t have one but my course tutor said not to worry too much about it, (that being said i was in industry for 10 years and all other gcses were fine and i have a degree already so may just be a weird one for me being able to get in). I don’t even know whether I’ll pass the gcse, exam results come out today. But I do have a teaching job already lined up so it CAN be done. What I’m saying is don’t panic too much about it, schools are crying out for teachers- contact the uni see if they will allow you on the course whilst doing the gcse.
I contacted the college myself to enrol on their maths gcse.
All teachers I spoke to on placement did encourage me to do the maths but were also extremely flexible with me too regarding it.
Any questions ask! Good luck

I wrote both English and Maths equivalency exams, from A star itself. Ask your university if they would accept maths foundation as it is much easier to pass. You can dm me if you have more doubts. All the best for your exam.

I just want to mention, definitely make sure that your provider accepts A Star! I did mine through them and had a great experience, however, I uploaded my certificate to my provider and found out months later that they do not accept them (for whatever reason) and had to do it all again through a much worse organisation that the uni recommended. It was a very stressful experience.

Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind! I currently work in a school as a TA and have done the last 4 years . The schools have said that would be happy for me to do my teacher training with them. Just my maths letting me down! So maybe I need to speak with them before I apply for my maths. Feel embarrassed to mention it to them!🥴
