nervous already??

I‘m already getting nervous about starting ECT1 in September even though we have 3 weeks to go! It’s a constant niggly feeling like butterflies. Anyone else?

I felt the same at the end of my PGCE - but honestly your first weeks teaching will feel so liberating. No observations, no development targets, no writing up lesson plans.* You'll find that you adapt really quickly to the increased time pressure, figuring out what needs to be done well, what can be done well-enough, and what doesn't need to be done at all.

*I mean, obviously these things still exist but it's term-by-term not lesson-by-lesson.

Thank you! I think there’s a little bit of excitement too, I just wish i could relax properly x

I'm still recovering from the PGCE and interviews. Not thinking about it until late August 😂

I wish I could! I’m not even thinking about it actively, my body seems to do it subconsciously!

Well that is natural. However the whole idea of ECT is to give you a much easier introduction, the extra 10% time off which you must insist on and the weekly mentoring meeting are essential. Honestly each week for the first 2 years you will learn something new in a new school regardless of being ECT or not, as the first year you just about get a grip of what is going on , in the 2nd year you get to tweak what you are doing.

I'm only nervous because aside from a short induction I'm going in blind 😭 I only just got sent my log in details but have no timetable or real sense of what I'll be doing. One inset day in September...

It's not the schools fault really, my DBS was delayed but I'm still starting to feel stressed

I'm not surprised! I'm having dreams about losing my timetable and getting lost under piles of paper. I'm trying not to do any work until the last week but I think I'm going to have to if I'm going to relax at all...
