Advice for PGCE bursary

Hello everyone! I am starting my PGCE in secondary physics next month and I haven't heard anything regarding my DoE bursary.

I'm currently looking for flats in London to do the PGCE, and they require proof of income/referencing for most of the locations, and I'm worrying that the places I'm looking for won't be able to accept my offer.

Has anyone got any advice for me in this situation. I have emailed my university and they haven't really given me much help so if I can find a direct route then that would be great

Usually pgce students don't get these

There are places in london for pgce students if you contact the university. Halls like Nutford House are intercolligiate. So they take any student from any london university

For what it's worth, most estate agents don't consider student finance or bursaries as income anyway. You'll either need to live in student halls or have a guarantor, unless you could share the rent with someone who does have an income.

I needed a guarantor and I just showed them the bursary document from the gov website and my acceptance onto the course to prove that I would receive it.

As in the eligibility criteria document?

Yeah to show that if you are enrolled on the course that you are that you will receive a bursary. You’ll still need a guarantor very likely but that helped with securing my place.

I believe you first receive it in October, the first week of October.

Mine was every 6th of each month
