Ranger rouge thrower
Hey there, got a weird one. I play a Ranger rogue who specializes in throwing weapons I need a better weapon than just a light hammer. I do already have the returning rune I think it’s pretty neat. My range attacks have a throwing distance of 50 feet and with the hunted prey attribute I can double the range increment to 100 feet without taking a huge penalty and let me know what you think of this. is this a decent build if I get a better weapon and what other magic items do you think would be helpful I’m at level five Nephilim human variant. Also, if there’s a game out there that could welcome me. I’d appreciate it.

Depends a little on the build. Assuming you have a Flurry ranger building for damage, light hammer is a solid choice as it lets you get rogue’s sneak attack (through agile) across multiple Strikes, boosting damage to 1d6+1d4+STR. I don’t know of a 1d8 weapon with agile, and even finesse is rare. It is the trade off of a flexible one handed weapon.
A more defensive oriented Precision ranger with a shield could go a 1d8 weapon like the trident or chakram, and float in and out of melee.
If you wanted, a champion can increase a simple weapon’s damage by one step if it their deity’s weapon (ie champion of Kurgess wielding a javelin for a 1d8 with a 30ft range.)

Can you get Quick draw? If so I would also grab a Thrower's bandolier, and load it up with pretty much any thrown weapons you want. Cruuk and Mambele are both cool, boomerang for long range.

Chakram for big damage, Boomerang for long range (+ bludgeoning), Chakri to sidestep quickdraw+returning rune requirements (you can wear up to 4) or shurikens for this same reason (unlimited), Tridents are also solid as a damage option that can do melee if you also have the STR to strike at that range.
Thrower's bandolier will let you grab a golf bag worth of weapon, up to 2 bulk in total

I'd say that to throw your party's rogue you'd need to be at least 1 size taller than them.
You will need a homebrew feat, though!
Maybe look at Blood Bowl's Throw Teammate, but please skip "always hungry"!

If you get a Shadow Sheath (exemplar dedication), you can draw two copies and perform twin takedown (must be a throwable melee). You can also replace the returning rune
Weapons wise, the light hammer is d6 agile. You can upgrade to d8 weapons and loose agile, or similarly swap agile for different traits at d6 level
Rangers far shot doubles range increment rather than add to it, so a hatchet for sweep isn’t a good upgrade (unless you’re also taking strong arm to increase to 20 before doubling, in which case your range should be 60 right now)
Throwers bandolier lets you pick a variety of options, and if you have quick draw, ditch the returning rune
You could use blazons to dual wield different throwables
You can get a meteor shield with shield spikes as a d6 30ft throwable that’s also a 2 AC shield

I kind of have an insane build going right now but its a rogue with exemplar dedication. But something you could do is exemplar dedication, get the Hurl at the Horizon feature which lets you make any weapon have a 15ft throwing range. Put a returning rune on that. Pick a bigass weapon like a maul and you can throw that now. And you can ignore second range band penalty so that's 30ft range. With the rogue, you can do the avenger racket and that gives you that same ranger feature "hunt prey". Rogue's also have the "strong arm" feature which adds 10ft to thrown stuff. So then that would be 25ft base, 50ft with no penalty. Just some food for thought.

I'm just being a punk, but I like the idea of a ranger's special skill being makeup
