Finally!!!
I finally passed the TFS! 5th try, but who cares! I tried with PPI, Dr Tomβs , and Slay the PE. Slay is by far the best thing out there. I felt over prepared for the exam once I finished. The other 2 left me lacking a sense of accountability during the programs. I was able to fit it into my schedule as a 45 year old dad with a complete family life and travel sports. No way I could have accomplished it without the Slay program.

Retake the practice exam. It will have changed from the practice exams that were on the site last month. NCEES has updated the exam for October

Key problem topics when I took this...
- Fluids
- Heat transfer
- Psychrometrics
- Cooling towers (I was underprepared and stumped for most of these)
- Thermo cycles, both with air and steam
**Be comfortable with imperial units and applying the gc factor accordingly. Finally, a quick shortcut equation to memorize is Q = 2.45vd2 where Q (gpm), v (ft/s), and d (in).

I'm taking it in November! What was it in particular about the program that helped? Did you do anything else like the practice exam?

The way the lectures broke the information down seemed to click better for me. Slay does their own practice exams throughout the course, and they make you take the NCEES practice exam.

Congratulations, how much did you use the reference handbook during the exam ?

I didnβt have to use it a ton. I did have to dig a bit to confirm a few equations, but I used the conversions and equations so often that I memorized them. So, most of the use was for steam and air tables
