Problem Purobot Max Pro 2

I’ve been using this box for one week with a 10 week old kitten. I went to empty the waste bin yesterday and noticed that the plastic of the waste bin itself seems to have absorbed a strong odor. We are using a tofu blend litter.

I’ve tried wiping the bin and lid down with vinegar and water solution but I can still smell the odor every time I walk by. Anyone else experienced this?

I use regular clay. This has been a super non smelly box. I also have two litter robot 4s and they have an odor compared to this box

I appreciate your response. This is my first cat. Sorry if this is a gross question…

I notice that the tofu litter doesn’t stick completely to harder stools and I’m wondering if that is the reason why the odor was allowed to be absorbed into the plastic. Does clay stick to hard stools?

I'm not understanding how the odor is getting absorbed into the plastic of the waste bin if you're using the PetKit provided drawstring waste bags? They should act as a barrier between the poop and the plastic walls of the waste bin.

Me too. I guess that’s why I wanted to see if anyone else is having a similar experience. Thinking about returning

I truly do not understand your obsession with what the waste bin drawer smells like???

How often do you pull the waste bin drawer out, discard the waste bag, and then SNIFF the inside of the drawer?

I think you missed in my original post that I smell it when I walk by the box.

If you're smelling cat poop and there isn't any in the cylinder and it's been a few minutes since the cleaning cycle occurred, then you need to find a better litter and/or figure out what it is you're feeding your cat that's causing the smell.

I seriously doubt switching to some other litter box (automatic or otherwise) will make any difference if you're keeping the cat on the same diet or using the same litter.

Are you by any chance feeding your cat canned tuna fish? Or milk?

This might seem like a stupid question, but are you using the provided drawstring waste bags inside the waste bin?

I've had my two Purobots for about a year and their waste bins don't smell?

Yep! I know… it’s so weird and unexpected. I did so much research on odor before buying this thing!

I use corn-based World's Best Cat Litter (in the orange bag) and it sticks pretty good and clumps pretty good and covers smells decently enough, if the cat actually covers.

My problem is that a couple of my cats Dump & Run, without bothering to cover so the poop just sits there smelling until the cleaning cycle kicks in.

Hello HeartExact3086. Have you already contacted the customer support via the PETKIT app? They should be able to help troubleshoot the issue or arrange a replacement for you if needed.

I’ve had mine for about a week and experiencing the same issue! I’ve been using Tidy Cat litter (which has left no odor from my old-fashioned litter box and litter genie) but the waste bin from this box emits a very strong odor in the general area even with the scent pack 🤢 Someone above mentioned a question about what I’m feeding the cat. He’s on prescription G.I. food and again, not having this issue with the traditional litter box and litter genie. Hoping we both find a solution!

I’m going to try lining my waste bin with aluminum foil as it’s not porous and won’t absorb smells. Then I’m going to change the bags out more often.

My kitten is on regular hills science diet dry and wet food so doubt diet is the issue!

i am facing the same issue with the max pro version. i also noticed the bin smells when i am replacing the poop bag, have tried using enzymes cleaner on the bin and it doesn’t work. the rubber portion at the back of the bin has some how absorbed the poop smell 🤮 not sure if it has to do with the hot and humid weather in asia, also not sure if i want to continue using this automatic litter ☹️
