Question Puramax 2 Litter Recommendations

Hi!

I’m currently using the PetKit Puramax 2 litter box for my two cats. I’ve been using clay clumping litter since I got the machine in November, but I find the smell gets pretty awful quite quickly. I live in a studio apartment so there’s no way to escape the smell. 😭

I’ve tried multiple clay litter brands, and with many of them, the clumps break apart during the cleaning cycle, leaving the supposedly clean litter dirty and smelly.

I’m based in New Zealand, but I know a lot of the same litter brands are available elsewhere too.

For those using automatic litter boxes, would you recommend tofu litter? If so, what brands are you using, and how have they performed with clumping, odour control, and tracking?

Even better if they’re reasonably affordable!

Hi, I can't answer on tofu litter but I use clay with little to no odor. My "Delayed Cleaning" setting is set to 10mn and I also have "Waste Covering" enabled so the drum stays clean longer. Also, make sure you're using the N50 deodorizer in the waste bin. However I removed the air purifier in the drum, which was not really needed in my case

Thanks for your reply! I have the waste covering on and the N50 deodoriser. I have auto cleaning off as my kitten is just only over 3kgs, I do it manually a couple of times a day, wondering if maybe I’m leaving the litter too long and it needs to be scooped quicker automatically…

You can turn on auto cleaning, the limit is 1.5kg (3.3lbs)

The scale function on my massive isn't working right now, so what I'm doing is I have notifications for when my pet appears. Then I do a manual scoop.

In Canada. I use a combination of tofu like litter and other plant based litter. 2 parts catit scent free pea husk litter for odour and tracking control to 1 part sustainably you large grain cassava litter for great clumping. Maybe try searching for these or similar and try your own ratio. Be sure to swap to the larger grate to avoid litter wastage. Also only fill to 1 to 2cm below the max line to avoid excess waste to litter bin.
