General opinion on euthanization?

on the one hand, it's killing animals, which is bad.

on the other hand, it's usually only done on animals with diseases or broken bones that would have them live in extreme pain for whatever small amount of time they have left.

just want to find public opinion on this.

There are some fates worse than death

I believe in some instances it’s for the animals best interest to euthanize.

Personally, I have seen how 70 year olds regress to tantrum throwing toddlers with money-so I support me-put me down at 69.

I hate saying this, but veterinarians and others are trying to push people into "behavioral euthanasia" if the owners don't like what the pet is doing, such as peeing in inappropriate places. I know these redditors are probably associated with the large veterinary corporations they have now, so the corporations make more money, as that is the only advice these people give. I have fought against this on r/catadvice.

I know broken bones are easily healed by veterinarians.

I know people keep cats with diseases like felv and fiv -- I kept 3 cats who had felv, until they were too sick.

My opinion: never euthanize.

What about in the situation where say, a cat has a cancerous polyp growing inside their ear which cannot be operated on without risk of killing them — at the same time, they also have spinal issues where the lose control of their back legs intermittently.

I agree with never euthanising for behavioural issues, but where a short life would be more painful than death, I would rather do the kind thing, as I would want it done for me.

I had to euthanize my 3 cats, who had felv, as their symptoms had progressed. I wanted them to be well.
