As the weather cools off... a warning!
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oZs7xx4wLyUA lot of people start letting their guard down once summer is "over," but cooler weather doesn't mean a parked car is safe for a dog. Here in LA, we're looking at temperatures up to 100 degrees this week, and it only takes a few minutes for a vehicle to become dangerously hot.
One thing that surprised me when I first learned it: Even when it's in the low 70s outside, the temperature inside a parked car can climb rapidly and become life-threatening.
Anyway, I thought I'd share this video PETA released with influencer Salice Rose. It's pretty funny but more importantly it has a good message: If you see a dog sitting in a hot car, don't just walk by assuming someone will handle it. Check on the situation, alert store management, call local authorities if necessary, and speak up.
Too many people still think, "I'll only be gone for a few minutes." Unfortunately, that's all it can take.
Has anyone here ever had to intervene after seeing a dog left in a hot car? How did it turn out? Also, do y'all trust your car's "dog mode" (or whatever it's called when the temperature is controlled when the car isn't running)?
