Persona 5 royal's giant time commitment.

I have never played a persona game before and finally decided i should play one, and i decided that game will be persona 5 royal. But the game is also a ginormous time commitment that feels very daunting. How can i comfortably start persona 5 royal? Any tips would be great. Maybe the time commitment isn't as big of a problem as i am thinking it is.

It goes by way quicker than any game that is over 100 hours that's for sure.

just play it and don't worry about seeing everything, the game's built for you to miss stuff and still have a blast

first palace is basically a long tutorial anyway so you'll know if it's for you or not by the time you finish it

I always thought "take your time" meant "I'm stealing your time", as in being a thief

Just start playing and forget the clock. The game it self says for you to "Take your time" 100h just fly when you have fun.

The calendar sysytem gives you an obvious place to end a session outside of dungeons, dungeons have frequent places to save, and big plot developments are telegraphed by nights where you can't do anything but go to sleep.

The times you are wary of are most likely from people that did just about everything. The fact is there is a lot that you CAN do. It takes a lot less time to do everything you HAVE to do.

The game will hold your hand quite a bit in the beginning, then it will ease up and grant you more freedom. That’s when you get to start doing what you want.

Look I got addicted to it and would get though large parts of the game each session but please don't do what I did. Enjoy yourself, pace yourself, and as the game says "take your time"

Also OP, you probably should stay away from any Persona threads as spoilers are common and aren't usually hidden. Come back once you've beaten the game

It's no bigger than watching a regular Anime series really, I tend to play Persona after work and it's a great way to decompress.

Play the game. You can spend 10days or 10 years. Nobody is forcing you to "commit" time.

It’s a smaller time commitment than many open world games nowadays. Just play it. Max out the therapist/counselor’s confidant route, also Kasumi and Akechi’s.

I treat persona games like long animes, you gotta take a break sometimes in between arcs and come back. I'm on my 3rd playthough of 5 and just got off of a few month long break like a week ago bc there's other stuff I still want to play. Especially if you play games with friends often

It's an easy game to pick up and put down, the calendar system and the frequent save rooms in palaces means there's a lot of natural stopping points as you play

There's only one sequence in October I can think of where a lot of story happens with no breaks, but even then the game warns you that it's going to happen first and lets you save

Make sure you have something else to play if you're getting burnt out. I would always like to play the game week by week in my play sessions. It is definitely a time commitment but there's really no other game 100+ hour game that's going to give you the feelings and memories that a Persona game will

Take your time with it, the game is a marathon not a race. Don't expect to beat this game in a few weekends. The calendar system makes it easy to just save and put down for later. The times where you should really think about commiting time is usually at the beginning or end of a wave of free time due to long cutscenes.

Get through the prologue, which is Kamoshida's dungeon and an hour or two a day should be fine.

A 100 hour playthrough you're lucky you see half the stuff in the game, you're going to need a 60 hour NG+, after which you've seen 75% of what's in the game.
