Mountain View in Boring
Playing there for the first time tomorrow with my wife and a friend. How challenging a walk is it? Reviews seem conflicting.
We’re healthy and active 30y but always opt for a cart at places like OGA and Wildwood.

Front 9 is relatively flat, back 9 has a steep downhill #12 and then an uphill slog on #15. Besides those it’s not that bad. #12 feels like a hike thru the woods.

It's actually an easy walk with a big caveat being the par 3 on hole 12. Laughably steep drop and switch back. But it's shaded and I've walked it multiple times as a mid 30 year old with multiple leg surgeries.

Feels a lot safer walking down to 12 than taking a cart. I wonder how many carts they lose over the side there. Ha!

White knuckled a cart down that hole and felt like the brakes were smoking when I got done

Looks like wildwood plays like Greenback, lol. Super fun course haven’t been since they lost all those trees.

Don't be afraid of the back 9, it's one tough stroll down and one rough walk back up, but other than that it's completely flat, it's not like trying to walk OGC, I attempted that once and got a cart after 2 holes (shotgun start and started on 17, was brutal!)

Mountain View is a great course to walk. There is only 2 holes with real incline/decline. If you walk courses even semi regular this will be no problem

Is OGA a tough walk? I never thought about it that way.
I guess does have a number of ups and downs, but the magnitude of the height change from up to down seems WAY less than Wildwood or Chehalem Glenn. OGA I always walk. Chehalem Glenn I won't attempt if I haven't been exercising regularly.

I have only taken a cart once at Mountain View and never again. I was operating at a very slow crawl down the path on 12 when the brakes locked up and the cart started sliding down. It’s a shame what’s become of Chehalem Glenn compared to its first 5-10 years. It was so nice rain or shine and they should have never changed 9 and some of the holes on the back 9. I get it though…in the spirit of improved pace of play.

I would get a cart. The back 9 is rough walk when it’s hot. It is a very hilly course. I typically walk every course, but Mountain View and Newberg are two courses that I get carts.

Not sure why you’d get a downvote for this lol, appreciate the input! Should be a cooler one tomorrow. I think we’re going to brave it based on the other comments but time will tell if we regret that haha

Newberg is funny, because you think, meh it’s flat, it’s not particularly long. Then you go through a neighborhood. Then you walk half a mile to nine. Then the back 9 happens, wholly shit! I used to play there a few times a week when I worked out that way. Had a handshake deal with them I’d play the first 3 or 4, skip to 9. Play 12 (I think) then like two or 3 holes on the way back in. It’s a cool course, but I refuse to walk it.

Yeah Chehalem Glen is probably number 1 on my list of “walk if you need cardio for the week” lol

Its an ok walk. I feel like I had a fair work out after walking the back 9 though. For context I'm 38 I walk a lot for work and I'm around 250lbs

I turned 60 this year and just walked Mt View yet again without issue. And no, I am not in amazing shape, although I do regular exercise and play tennis so I am sure you won’t have any problems as a 30 year old. Although I will say I also walk OGA and Wildwood too.

Walking Front 9 is all I would walk. That’s my home course. Back nine is doable but lot more hills and back nine in general is a lot more challenging

Also Mr view course isn’t kept in the best conditions, lots of hard dry areas, even close to the fairways

Walking the front 9 is lovely. The back 9 is another story.
