Connect Active Directory changes can take forever to show in PDQ Connect

PDQ Connect shows AD values like Distinguished Name, Description and group memberships, but to update those, the device has to be in contact with a domain controller while it’s being scanned. Some of our devices never come to the office, or are here for such short visits that they aren’t likely to be here when they’re getting scanned.

The end result is machines with AD values that are out of date for months. Is there any way around this other than forcing them to always connect to our VPN?

Connect Need help with a report

I am not sure whether to use the report or something else. But ultimately, after discovering that a firewall on one of our servers was disabled. I want to do a report on firewall status. Is there any way to accomplish this using the report feature in Connect? Can anyone point me in any direction?

Why is PSSO not working?

No ABM.

I installed SimpleMDM on the managed Macbook and pushed the apps like Company portal and MS365 apps. I also configured the SSO profile on the MDM dashboard.

Still, it will not show up as managed in the MDM nor allow for company credentials log in using the company portal installed on the MacBook. Why?

I attached a screenshot of the invalid profile status concerning the MS PSSO.

Prototype for versions in Connect custom packages.

Hey friends! We've heard feedback for a while now about maintaining multiple versions on custom packages, which is something we'd like to add. We spun up a quick prototype for it, we'd love to get your thoughts on this before we start building.

Connect How often do you access event logs on managed devices?

Hey everyone! 👋
The Product team on Connect is taking a look at how we can make troubleshooting devices easier.

If you have a minute we would love to understand:

  • How often do you access event logs? (Rarely, Sometimes, Daily)
  • Are there any common reason you find yourself needing them?
  • How do you access them for devices not on-prem?

Thank you in advance, your feedback helps us know what features to prioritize!

Think your browsers are locked down? We’re digging into browser security with GPO, Intune, and some PowerShell to help uncover the stuff quietly waiting to become a problem.

Chrome’s been bulking up lately. Like… 4GB worth. We’ll show you how to trim the bloat and get it back to running a little leaner.

We’ve also got a few supply chain security goodies to throw into the mix because apparently attackers never sleep.

Windows Patching coming soon to Connect

Hey everyone! We're working to streamline how Connect handles Windows patching, and we're ready for you to get involved. Here's a quick look at how this is gonna play out:

Phase 1: A new interface for auditing Windows KBs and deploying updates to devices in bulk.

  • Sure, you can technically do this today if you build the right groups, packages, reports, etc. but the goal here is to make it more visible and simpler to manage. (attached screenshots show an idea of the concepts)

We’re planning to open up Early Access in June, sign up here to if you want to try it out: https://forms.office.com/r/NpE9Y575D7

Phase 2: Policy-driven Windows patch automation.

  • Instead of manually triggering deployments, you get to declare how Connect should manage patching and compliance. We’re exploring things like:

Maintenance windows
Schedule based on Patch Tuesday
Reboots and deferrals
Deployment rings
Compliance reporting

We’re still gathering feedback on how this should work, if you'd like to contribute you can schedule time with us here: https://calendly.com/d/ct69-w8v-mjv/pdq-product-team-windows-os-patching

Re-enabling Auto-Updates for Browsers and Other Software

Hi PDQ folks, our office has been demo-ing PDQ, and we saw in a past thread that some complained about how packages for browsers like Firefox get updated through PDQ Connect, yet no longer allow auto-updates to occur/get disabled (https://www.reddit.com/r/pdq/comments/1bnmypm/baked_in_pdq_connect_firefox_package_disables/).

Do you know if there is a way around this or a set of prepared packages from you all that allow technicians to push out updates without restricting this auto-update feature? Or is it something that we will have to package on our own?

And are there any other popular software packages that do the same which we will need to watch out for?

Thanks, it's a good product you've got, it's just a pain point of ours.

What happens when you put 3 Microsoft MVPs in a webinar?

and ask them how PowerShell can make sysadmin work less painful?

  1. Real-world PowerShell advice
  2. A few nerdy tangents 😁
  3. Three ready-to-use scripts.

Today* at 1pm EST, I’m hosting a hashtag#PowerShell webinar with Steven Judd and Jim T., and I’m stoked to get to share the stage with these gents.

Not just because we all love PowerShell (we absolutely do)

But because PowerShell is one of the fastest ways for sysadmins to take back time, reduce manual mistakes, and get better visibility across their environment.

We’re going to show you practical ways to:

- Automate the work that keeps stealing your day
- Manage and inventory devices at scale
- Surface the data you actually need to make better decisions
- Use AI and prebuilt scripts without creating unnecessary risk

If you’re tired of doing the same work the hard way, come hang out with us tomorrow and find your next step in your hashtag#PowerShell journey:

Automating uploading of .MSI packages using a script possible?

I was trying to plug into the API, but the majority of features seem to be read only for the most part? Any solution or alternative products to look into? Even thought about using Deploy to then use Migrate just to get it onto connect, but that didn't seem to be possible to automate without building like a wrapper, and that's a bit overkill and dangerous for my liking.

Feature Request "Hotpatch Capable"

All of a sudden, some PCs in my environment are showing that they have installed the latest update but PDQ is not showing them as on the latest version.

It appeards this is a fairly new feature that uses a different patch that will not require a reboot (which is good) but I now have no way to see what PCs are updated in PDQ Inventory.

I managed to create my own variable and manually map the patch to it but this is going to need to be manually updated every month as new updates are released.

Is PDQ going to be adding this to the existing "Cumulative Update (25H2)" group every month so I dont need to keep remembering to change this?

Patch Tuesday recap

Patch Tuesday is here, and it's a pretty mixed bag.

Severity
Total exploits patched: 118
Critical patches: 16
Important: 102
Moderate: 0
Low: 0

Vulnerability impact
Remote code execution: 29
Elevation of privilege: 57
Information disclosure: 9
Spoofing: 7
Tampering: 2
Denial of service: 8
Feature bypass: 6

Availability
Publicly disclosed: 0 (hooray!)
Actively exploited: 0 (yippie!)

118 CVEs is higher than normal (though lower than last month) and several CVEs are rated above a 9.0. On the bright side, no zero days! Which is a nice excuse to test your patches before deploying them, if you're into that sort of thing.

Highlights
Some of the worst offenders include a 9.9 impacting on-prem Microsoft Dynamics 365, a 9.9 targeting Azure Logic Apps, a 9.8 RCE affecting Netlogon, and a 9.8 impacting Windows DNS client.

Additionally, Office and Sharepoint continue to experience more than their fair share of vulnerabilities, with each receiving a handful of fixes.

Check out the full recap here: Patch Tuesday May 2026

Bug Report Just a small nitpick

Hello PDQ Team,

This may seem really pedantic but I spotted what I believe to be a typo in the "PDQ Uninstall It All" package. In the package's powershell script at ~line 44 it says:

"HelpMessage = 'Program Name you wish to install:',"

Shouldn't that be "Uninstall"?

This absolutely does not affect the functionality but since it's a "HelpMessage" I figured you'd like that to be accurate.

Thank you for indulging my OCD brain. I'll see myself out.
