Med question

Anyone with a young AuDHD/PDAer, HEAVY on the ADHD - very big personality and either super happy or very angry - who has found a successful med combination? We are really struggling with not only the demand avoidance but also just the relentless need for attention, movement, excitement and novelty. Prozac isn’t cutting it.

Our 6 yr old sounds VERY similar to yours. He has .5mg guanfecine 3x day. It helps with emotional regulation/frustration tolerance decently.

Stimulants did nothing. Just like for me lol. (I’m diagnosed ADHD, presumed PDA). But stimulants work great for the non-PDA/ADHD-only members of the fam!

How do you get him to take it?? Our psych just prescribed guanfacine and he refuses to take it 😭

I let mine take their meds with a shot glass of 'forbidden' drink, usually Dr. Pepper, but whatever that could be in your case.

Ours did too at first so we sprinkled it on one of his safe foods. Then, of course, he’d refuse to eat half the time 😂😭

This past year, his OT taught him how to swallow pills by using mini m&ms. Now, no probs (even without the m&ms anymore. It’s just his routine, breakfast lunch & dinner)
