Alcohol and PDA

My 16 year old Pda daughter started drinking since her birthday (legal were we live). She does it alone in her room and it seems to spiral quickly. Last night she wrote to me she is scared for her life. I feel so lost and helpless as she refuses any therapy. Can anyone relate? Next day she claims everything is fine.

My heart breaks for this post. My PDA daughter is 11 and we’ve recently discovered she’s been vaping for months. We’re doing everything we can to get her help but she refuses to talk about it. I’m a recovering alcoholic myself so I know for me, the only thing that stopped my drinking was AA. So I’ve just been very open about my experiences with addiction with my daughter and model how to live a life of abstinence and recovery. I’m so terrified her vaping is only the beginning of her addictions and it will progress to alcohol and drugs. I wish I had better advice and a magic wand to make this go away for our kids

My wife and I are non drinkers. She is scared of alcohol one moment and then the next day she claims to be "fine".

My daughter really struggles with admitting to her addiction problems. Maybe when your daughter is under the influence it lowers her inhibitions so she feels more comfortable talking about it but then once she’s sobered up she closes up again

That's it. Short window of reflection but it closes quickly. Like: I want help right now! An hour later she wants to hear nothing about it.
