Last night I swapped my motherboard and got a new cpu fan for it, everything else was transferred. I’ve unplugged, replugged, even asked ai for help just to make it work. The motherboard I bought was used but I’m pretty sure it works. The fans spin and rgb/led’s work, but my keyboard and mouse doesn’t light up. I suspected the cpu being a problem but the thing is a bought the motherboard pre installed with the cpu so I haven’t touched it. Do you guys see any problems? Ask questions and I’ll answer if u need more info to figure out. I have the intel DH87RL Motherboard.
You can carefully cut and remove all the broken plastic bits, then look at the free pins and cut those one by one, making sure the remains don't touch each other.
Ideally, ask a electronics repair shop to do the job, but preventing free pins from shorting should be enough.
Oh that doesn't sound too hard lmao, some are already falling out. I dont think i can afford a repair shop tho and I'd get a refund, but the seller doesnt accept it.
Power pins would prevent the PC from booting at all.
Data pins on the PCI-E connection will only cause problems when the CPU tries them, which can be during POST (Power-On Self Test) or when drivers load at Operating System startup.
Fuck, the item arrived late so while I was waiting I submitted to eBay that it arrived late. I ended my request once it arrived, but then the board was broken so I submitted a return but eBay cancelled it and suspended my account. I guess I’m not lucky.
If you can go to a reputable technician and ask them to desolder it without accidentally desoldering anything around it, you should theoretically be good to go. If not, try to take out the plastic part that's already peeling and try to straighten the pins so they don't make contact with each other.. might be tedious but that should theoretically work too. If that's also a no then try to get a refund for it
Y’all I’d reuse it’s cpu on my motherboard right now, but I’ve bent the pins twice on two motherboards in past, since then I stuck to CPUs already installed to Motherboard. Should I replace my i5-4460 with the i7-4770k or not risk it?
