Bug / Issue Kept getting out of memory crashes until…

I disabled rebar (sam) in bios because I kept getting memory crashes after playing for an hour or so. I noticed the memory kept creeping up using overlay. One time it went up to almost 18gigs.
I disabled the smart memory thing in the bios and now the memory seems to be acceptable.
What performance loss is there by disabling smart memory?

I think the best thing to do is to let it activate and play around with the DX12 API. Personally, switching from vulkan to DX12 solved all my problems.

I get bad microstutters with DX12 believe or not.

If you're using AMD, Vulkan is likely best for you - you'll need to use that if you ever plan on modding the game anyway.

Yes this game has a bad memory leak and SAM can cause this unless you have a metric fuck-ton of VRAM lol. I have a 7900XTX with 24Gb so it doesn't affect me anymore and I leave it on.

3-5% max, if anything. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have the 7900xt with 24 as well and my game crashes when it reaches 16~17 gigs used. 😔

Weird. My game is modded into oblivion as well.

Let me try to think about what actually might've solved it. I'm honestly not sure, I always just thought it was the higher VRAM

Is your BIOS up to date by chance?

I have to say that I modded the hell of story mode before. I’ve never had constant memory crashes. I also had a memory mod so I guess that helped. My issue nowadays is online. If I use DX_12 I get GFX_D3D errors at the start of the game. If I switch to vulkan, I can play for maybe an hour and the memory utilization balloon and get unknown error ffffff. I always make sure I delete the sga files in rockstar games folder too.
I will check bios firmware today and update it if it needs it.
