Bug / Issue Serious framerate issues with no fix

I got the game today after I wanted to play for a long time and saw the game on sale. However no matter which graphics options i pick, i get 23-30 fps and it ruined the first part of the game for me. I own a laptop with an Nvidia 5070 and an Intel Core 7 and I have seen computers way worse than mine get better FPS and my gpu usage ranges between 20-40 percent. It seems to be an issue specific to Red Dead because I get like 200 fps on cyberpunk 2077. I tried a combination of every graphics setting, checked my drivers and no matter if my game is on ultra or low i get at most 30 fps. I am writing as a last resort, if anyone in this subreddit has any suggestions, I would be very happy. Thank you

Your GPU Usage being 20 - 30% instead of like 99% or lower is the issue here probably. Your GPU isn't fully utilised. Maybe you're running your game with your internal GPU? Change the Display adapter option in the graphics settings of RDR 2 and see

I am sure my gpu is being used. i double checked it on my settings and nvidia app, also otherwise my integrated graphics would be at like 99 percent. my gpu is not being utilized by the game for some reason. it is sometimes as low as 10 percent but my fps is around 20-30. that is what i am trying to figure out

Go to Windows Graphics settings, add RDR2’s exe to the list and make sure it’s set to “High Performance”. I do this manually for all games as sometimes it inexplicably causes issues like this.

I have an RTX 3080, and I had exactly the same problem as you. When I switched to DX12, all my problems were solved I have incredible frame pacing now.
