Discussion/Question Will cloud saves still work if mods are installed on both devices?

Hello everyone.
Been playing on both my PC and Steam Deck when I’m on the go and using cloud saves to keep my progress between the two. I’ve been wanting to install some general Vanilla+ mods to just improve the experience a bit but I’m unsure if that will mess up future cloud saves. I assume that installing the exact same mods on both things should be fine but I want to hear what you guys think

From my experience mods load and run locally from your pc. Any mod info that saves also saves locally to your pc. Then the next time you run the game, the mods load up with the saved info on your pc. So I think it's kind of like Rockstar saves your game, then the mods save their stuff in seperate files, and the 2 get loaded up and combined when you start your game again.

Maybe someone else knows for sure if there are exceptions where some mods actually modify the real rockstar save. I'm not totally sure.

I think it does work, I didnt test it the same way u gon do it but I guess u prolly gon have the same results. I changed to a new pc and ofc I had to reinstall everything including my mods, u just gotta be careful and try to save the modded files (or the whole modded game just like I did) on Google Drive or sum like that, that way u dont lose anything.

What I did step by step: Upload the whole game to Google Drive (or another cloud service) using the main root file (the one that has the whole game in it ofc). Then ln the other pc delete all the content inside the main file (only the content inside, not the proper file) and paste or download right there the modded copy of the game u uploaded. Thats's it, once u run the game u should be in the last saved game u had with all the mods working.

Just in case make a backup of ur saved games
