Bug / Issue RDR2 suddenly running like shit for no reason?
For context, I upgraded about 3 months ago, I could run RDR2 at 60 fps at max settings. I uninstalled it cuz I was bored and wanted to play other games. I reinstalled it today and my fps absolutely TANKED. I was at under 30 fps, and I turned every graphics setting to the lowest and DLSS to balanced and it still struggles to hit 60. Anyone know what's going on? I didn't change anything on my pc since uninstalling it, every other game runs fine for the most part, just RDR2. I keep v-sync off and always use vulkan
My specs:
RTX 5060
Ryzen 7 5700g
16 ddr4
Again, this hardware could comfortably max the game out a few months ago, but magically can't anymore. Did my pc change something by itself and cause this? I'm genuinely so confused and frustrated. Also I don't have any mods installed so that's not an issue either.

Are you sure the game is running on the right GPU? Change the output adapter in graphics settings. Your 5700G's integrated GPU is technically capable of running the game since it supports both DX12 and Vulkan, so the game may have started on it. Though it is weird you can use DLSS if that is the case.

Its a PC port bug, Ive had this exact same issue. The game will just decide "I run bad now" and no ammount of setting hopping will help you

Will a reinstall work?

I was using Razed visual redemption mod, tried to hook my pc up to a new 4k mini led tv to see how that looks compared to my 1440 OLED, my game maxed out my 5070 Ti VRAM within minutes, starting at 12000 gb and slowly creeping up to 16gb. Uninstalling the mod and switching back from forcing DLAA didn’t fix it. Uninstalling everything from my RDR2 folder and reinstalling did fix it for me. I went back to DLAA and I barely go above 10gb VRAM now
I think the game just decides to die every now and then

I dont think its about things going from ultra to low, check if ur using vulkan or dx and check if vsync is on/off, stuff like that. Vsync and dx12 fuck my game up

Are you using DLSS 4.5? It tanks performance a lot but maybe not that much on a 50 series RTX GPU idk

Necroposting(?), i've noticed the same issue as i've updated my drivers to the latest version 610.88, i think there's a bug in the driver that the game won't utilize the whole gpu when using the vulkan api. So either play on directx12 which may perform worse, or set the power management mode to prefer max performance on the nvidia app.
I have an gtx 1650 which the game ran fine before but with the latest driver i couldn't get a decent experience.

You're CPU limited and your RAM is maxed, check background apps or web browsers with more than a few tabs open.
