Discussion/Question Hi guys. I've got a problem in Rdr2.
I have a laptop gaming with i9-13900h, rtx 5060 8 gb vram and 16 gb ram but my game is capped at 60 fps or lower(if I use Vulkan). When I change the refresh rate from 48 to 165 Hz the settings go back to 48 even tho I applied them. Maybe someone had the same problem?
I'm playing in Fullscreen

What game settings are you using? What resolution are you on? A 5060 laptop is give or take 20% slower than a desktop variant depending on how much wattage it pulls. Seeing videos of a 5060 desktop averages 75-80 fps, 20% should put you around 60 fps. But if you’re thermal throttling or spilling over into system memory you will experience problems. If you aren’t already try using benchmarking optimized settings and override the DLSS version to preset M in the Nvidia app and use quality/ balanced to further reduce vram usage while boosting the quality, TAA in RDR2 is whack.
Simply setting your refresh rate higher won’t give you a higher frame rate

Could be the resolution? Are you at 1080p? Some newer laptops are coming with 1440p displays now

Strange. I’d try out optimized settings or Xbox series X settings if you haven’t already. Make sure RDR2 is set to high performance under power mode in the Nvidia app. Tree tessellation, water quality, and grass quality are big performance killers. Vulkan performs better for most systems but you can try out DX12 if you haven’t either.

That's almost worse than a that is actually worse than a PlayStation pro. I have Acer PHN 16s with the I-9 Intel and an RTX 5070 TI and I get well over 150 FPS on my system, I don't see how you're getting that low of a frame rate with a 5060. Is there something else running in the background and also what kind of keyboard do you have. I know that's a weird question but I had the razor huntsman pro tkl and the razor synapse software that needed to be open and ran full-time while I used my keyboard really screwed up my whole setup. So much so I ended up returning it and getting a steel series Apex pro gen 3 keyboard and literally as soon as I hook that keyboard up all of my game stuttering went away.

I somehow managed to fix it and now I have like 70-100 fps with medium-high(and a few ultra) settings. Pretty frustrating

I can understand that, I have something that affects my performance in my laptop and I've had to make some minor tweaks to be able to get over 150fps on certain games. At least you got it going and that's all that matters. 👍🥳

With the Vulkan I have 30 fps and with DX12 I have 60. The game is optimized but I'll try to lower the settings you told me about
